Oh my.

Quote
Gasoline under $2 a gallon in metro area

Motorists across the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro area were delighted today to find gasoline at less than $2 a gallon at certain stations, a level not seen for at least three years.

The sign at Bucky's Express in Council Bluffs sports the new price Tuesday.“This just thrills me,“ said Sue James of Omaha, a retail merchandiser who drives from store to store to ensure that displays are up and products are stocked.

James was filling her car’s gas tank with the ethanol blend, at $1.96.9 a gallon, at Bucky’s Express in Council Bluffs. Signs at several other stations along West Broadway showed $1.99 a gallon.

Rose White of AAA Nebraska said regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.28 a gallon across the state today. Prices were even lower in some places, such as Omaha, where there is strong competition, White said.

The last time prices for regular unleaded were below $2 a gallon was February 2005, White said.

In Iowa, AAA reported, regular unleaded averaged $2.14. The national average was $2.39 per gallon.

Prices could go lower.....

$1.91 here at Phillips 66. Not the "ethanol blend", either.

Still paying $2.27 in Seabrook, some station in North Hampton is supposedly at $2.07.  Prices still $2.39-2.45 in Rochester.

Was $2.39 at Pilot on Saturday night and didn't notice if it's changed since.

Kroger was at 2.15... I am waiting for it to drop below the $2.00 mark (my parents saw it below that in Atlanta, at a Costco).

Exxon at $2.09 in Austin, TX.  Costco and HEB (grocery) probably cheaper.

Oil looks like it'll stabilize at $50 a barrel for the next year, which (I think) means gas at just under $2.

Hint: Used SUVs are really cheap right now...

Bah, we're still paying in the $2.30's here in central FL, but we do have some of the highest fuel taxes in the country. :censored:

I'm thinking we are going to see oil start rising again. Now that the messiah has been elected, Pelosi will get her wish about banning drilling again.

Hold onto your wallets because you will see the largest increase in federal gasoline excise taxes in the next couple of years. Probably double or triple the present amount. Gotta pay for all those social programs.

Nixon and Carter proclaimed 30 some years ago that we will rid our dependence on foreign oil. Now that the price has dropped, the oil companies will cut back on production and the Congress will reduce the amount invested in alternative energy. We have not learned a damn thing because 30 years from now our dependence on foreign will be the same amount or even greater.

We were going through Terrell the other day and saw "$1.91" at the Racetrack.  We stopped to fill-up.  Unfortunately, their credit card system was down and I didn't want to hassle with cash, so we drove on.

Now, gas is $1.96 at the Little Store up on the highway.   We can live with that.

I've seen gas down to $1.99 the last few days.

The strange thing about diesel, this one Shell station has it for $3.39, but every other station is around $2.99 or a few cents less.  I saw one station yesterday with diesel at $2.89/gallon.

w00t!  Diesel is under $3!

Regular unleaded is now $1.61, and diesel is $2.39 in places here in KC....

$1.95 in Savannah.   :yahoo:  I don't need to fill up at the moment, but by the end of the week, I will.  Usually, there is still about 3 gallons in the 6's 18 gallon tank when I fill up (car will beep like crazy to get me to fill up at that time, for some reason. :mental:) So, at today's price, it would only cost me $30 to put 15 gallons in.

$2.13 this past Saturday...down from $2.27 a week ago.  I had budgeted in excess of $500 in gasoline alone to drive home this Christmas.  Paying less than half of that would certainly help.

$1.89 at a truck stop in central Texas.

I understand that the price of oil shouldn't vary too wildly in the foreseeable future.  Much of this summer's silliness is blamed on the futures traders.  The volume of futures contracts being traded was something like five times the volume of daily consumption.

Ah, here: http://blogs.reuters.com/globalinvesting/2008/06/06/growth-in-oil-futures-outpaces-oil-consumption-2/

But no state income tax. They get you one way or the other.

I can find it regularly right in my neighborhood for about 1.89 a gallon

$1.98 here in Richmond

BUSH'S FAULT!

Let's enjoy it while we can. Obama and his no drilling will probably change it.

Filled up at Sam's Saturday for $1.88. There was a Conoco station on the way home from work yesterday that had it for $1.85, so presume it's dropped further at Sam's.

$1.99 in Seabrook on Monday.  First time in three years.  Oh, and did I mention heating oil is now at $2.57 a gallon, a mere few months after I paid $4.25 a gallon on prebuy?  :thatsright:
