I never took OMC as the sort of sad sack DUmmie for whom politics was so central to their life and self esteem. I was disappointed when Labour won in 1997, (and probably to be honest if I had realised how dreadful Labour would be in government I would have been somewhat down the following day) but life goes on. If I got as worked up as they do over politics my life wouldn't have been worth living the last 11 years.
