WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's grandmother died of cancer, he said in a statement on Monday, a little more than a week after Obama interrupted the White House race to say goodbye to her in Hawaii.
"It is with great sadness that we announce that our grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, has died peacefully after a battle with cancer," Obama said in a joint statement with his sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng. "She was the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment, strength, and humility."
Dunham helped raise Obama from the age of 10 while his mother was working in Indonesia, and Obama took an emotional 22-hour trip to Hawaii to visit her on October 23 and 24.

Sad, but wow. That was almost predictable.
-
Very sad. RIP.
-
Yes sad, but at least she'll be spared living through an obamanation in the Oval Office.

Perhaps I'm cold-hearted, but I guess that I LOATHE the Obamanation so intensely that this doesn't bother me in the least.

RIP. Cancer is a horrible disease. I just lost one of my best friends this weekend. He lost his battle with Brain Ca. He was a "protest warrior" and die hard conservative. He would do anything for anyone. I loved him dearly. :bawl:

I choose not to think there were any nefarious plans for this. I think it eats a little bit of your soul every time you second guess the passing of someone or grave dance. I don't care what her grandson is or may be. I don't know the lady who passed but she was loved and that means she was in many ways a good person. I can't wish ill on anyone that has never done anything to me or my family. I think it is wrong and evil.

How sad. :(
