Title: You C.C. Women Are Amazing!
Post by: Chris_ on October 30, 2008, 08:11:11 PM
The above is very true!   :cheersmate:  Please consider the following request of a favor, to have no bearing on the above statement!  So... I have a bit of a conundrum, where I'm hoping to ask for a bit of your eloquent guidance... pretty please...  :innocent:  :uhsure:

I was recently at an art gallery exhibit, where this beautiful bella whom escorted me... fell in luv' with a photograph.  Perhaps, not so much in luv' but really liked it... close enough...

So... later on that evening, I deceitfully feigned the need to head to the rest room.  Upon turning the corner, I whisked off to that exhibit.  Smiled at the photographer, and handed her a few coins with a contact card, some extra coins if she could ship it to me, and a few more to cover the hassle; smiled... and disappeared.

Shockingly... instead of pocketing the coins from the random stranger from afar... she actually did mail it  :cheersmate:  So... now I need to have a frame built for it... here's where I'm at a loss... help please, it shall be a surprise for a graduation present!  :innocent:

Is there a Hobby Lobby in your area?  They have framing departments.

I like the top left...it has an orange sheen that goes well with the photo.

I like the top left as well. And noted the sheen.

Top left and I'm a HGTV freak. :-)  Plus, I rode an MV Agusta so you know I have good taste... :naughty:

Plus, top left is more of a modern touch if that's what you're after and what she prefers...

I'm with Dixie I like the top right.

If you were near here, I could send you to a great framing shop.  I have an Indian linen painting that my mom got framed there.  They did a great job helping her pick out the perfect frame and mat.

I beg to differ -- the bottom left really fits with the gestalt of the picture.

Top left....the color picks up the color of the trees in the pic, and the black edging is brought out by the matte.

Bottom ones have too much brown tones and wayyy too "busy".

Top right is a pretty frame, but too "busy" for the pic....instead of complimenting each other, it competes with the picture.

Look how beautiful the colors and pattern of bottom right enhances the underlying picture:

Maybe we need a poll?

Speaking as someone who has had hundreds of things custom-framed the past twenty years--from Holbein prints to Ukrainian art--the bottom left is the most aesthetic choice.

Of course, it all depends upon whether you wish to compliment just the picture, or the rest of the interior decor where you plan to hang it.  I'm looking at it as if the picture alone, and not the interior decor, is most important.

Bottom left, without a doubt. For once, I agree with fd :evillaugh:

And the picture I LOVE! I like this girl already! :-)

I think if she likes something that dark and different, then she would be ok with the bottom left which is interesting in and of itself and seems to almost pair with the picture--you can almost sense that piece of wood was pulled from the house by maintaining the hue of the sky that the wood is absorbing. I find the top right to be too formal and the other two don't have quite the coloring or precise character for the artwork.

I'm jealous.  :p :-)

I'm a redneck woodworker. I'd go for a custom frame. Plain Walnut, on the simple style of lower right with corners cut on a 22 1/2 degree mitre to incline the frame and draw attention to the painting instead of the frame......but then, I do like balogna sandwiches so what do I know about style or class. :-)

Modified to say ....Oops, meant lower right, had to change that.

I vote for the bottom left.  It's a perfect match.

Wow Vonne....I didn't know you were into goth chicks.

That picture is goth, because it's something I'd hang in my house.

As would I. I really like that picture!

I'm with you, frank. I was looking at it more of creating a whole piece of art including the frame so I chose the one that complimented and looked a part of the picture. I'd probably go more formal and/or less fussy if the idea was just to match the rest of the house and other artwork.
