FCC Probe Signals Democratic Attack Machine
by Rowan Scarborough
10/30/2008
A Federal Communications Commission investigation of on-air military analysts is providing a glimpse of what Democrats and an Obama administration will do to critics once they capture Washington.
The FCC has sent letters to some of the nation's most prominent military analysts -- some of them pro-President Bush and pro-war -- suggesting they may have broken the law when they appeared on television stations to comment on and explain the war on terrorism.
The FCC investigation raises the question of whether a Democrat-controlled Congress and White House next year will investigate -- and perhaps criminalize -- all sorts of actions taken by the Bush administration. Obama is leading in all presidential polls, while Democrats are set to greatly increase their hold on the House and Senate.
The FCC letters came at the behest of two House Democrats, who say the analysts parroted on air the private briefings they received at the Pentagon. This may have broken the law, the lawmakers said.
The probe is sending chills through the ranks of military commentators, some of them decorated war heroes who share their expertise with millions of lay viewers. They see it as one in a series of moves the Left is making to intimidate and shut up its critics.
"We are seeing the dawn of a new era of the current Democratic leadership trying to muzzle free speech and the First Amendment," retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Tom McInerney, a Fox News analyst, told HUMAN EVENTS. "It may be the most invasive intrusion that we have seen in our history. There will be more of these tactics to follow."
Said retired Army Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely, one of Fox's first defense analysts, "It's an affront to freedom of speech. As retired officers, we're private citizens and can say anything we want under the First Amendment. The whole thing was to explain to the American people what was going on in war and analyzing it." ....more at link.

What? If they are retired military, why is there any problem with them giving their viewpoints on current military actions. Just because they are accurate as to what is being told congress by in their briefings ?

How would that break the law?

You're not thinking progressively. That "law" will be in place within the first 3 months of the Obamanation.

The Propaganda organization in question was not the New York Times alQaeda Intelligence Bureau, New York office, and the military expert wasn't revealing what he knew as an anonymous source.

I'd love to know which two House Democrats pulled this shit.

Me too.

It's in the rest of the article:
The FCC sent the letters after receiving a complaint from Rep. Rosa L. DeLauro, (D-Conn.) and Rep. John Dingell, (D-Mich.). Dingell has a history of using committee staff to browbeat and investigate Republican administrations.

that's the problem, accuracy doesn't jibe with the preordained message of failure

H5, doc.

They will effectively suspend the 2nd Amendment first -- THEN the BOR will fall like dominoes.

Thats not the question. The question is: when did it come under FCC preview to censor military information?
-
Dingell...he's the dingbat that proposed all those extra taxes on gasoline and "carbon footprints." a 50-cent gasoline tax, a carbon tax and scaling back tax breaks for some home owners. "Let's scrap the war on terror to fight the war on non-exitant man-made global warming. Start by silencing anyone who actually explains the facts to the voters." :evillaugh: :evillaugh: :evillaugh: [/Dingell mode]

I think that it's easier to ask, "What's RIGHT with Michigan" ??

Did they send similar letters when NIE's were being leaked in highly truncated form to undermine the war?
-
I'm far more concerned about the leaked info that the New York Slimes was given about the war in Iraq and other other things. Of course those were damaging to the Bush Administration, so it's all okay. :censored: liberals.

Umm, I can think of a few things:
Tulip Festival in Holland (Michigan, you Squid, not the country) :-)
Cherry Festival in Traverse City
The Keweenaw Peninsula (if you can stand the bugs)
The Au Sable River
Houghton Lake
Basically any part of the state that is at least somewhat removed from that stinking cesspool in the southeastern corner of the state.
Just because Michigan has a chancre on its ass doesn't make it an entire sucking chest wound.

Well, Michael Moore lives in Traverse City now, and he takes a big part in the Cherry Festival, so I wouldn't put that much stock into it anymore.
Though I still love that state. So much to do if your an outdoors man. Fishing and Hunting are just wonderful up there, and if your a fan of cold snowy winters, your not gonna find much better.

Mikey was originally from Flint, right? Right on the edge of that sucking chest wound down in the southeastern corner, right?
So now he's begun polluting TC. T'is a shame - a very rotten shame.

In my opinion, this is just the beginning of how the democrat party with a supermajority will attempt to rule the country, by fear lies and intimidation. Stock up on guns and ammo now people while it's still legal.

I know. I about shit myself when I first heard of it. I remember all the work my Dad used to do with the Cherry Festival when he was a Recruitor there. Just seems like a slap to the face now.

He likes to CLAIM he was from Flint in order to add to his "street cred", but in reality he was raised in Davidson--a bit more affluent, no?

If Obama wins the 1st and 2nd amendments are history.

Born in Flint, grew up in Davison. I am loathe to research Moore, probably the largest pile of protoplasm this side of Rosie O'Donnell, but according to Wiki and Davison's demographics:
The median income for a household in the city was $37,482, and the median income for a family was $51,925. Males had a median income of $42,719 versus $28,222 for females. The per capita income for the city was $24,449. About 5.6% of families and 6.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 6.9% of those under age 18 and 7.6% of those age 65 or over.
yeah, I'd say it's a little more affluent than he's trying to portray. But the population density (Davison's only 1.8 square miles, with over 5K people in it) precludes that it's a Rich Bitch neighborhood. They're still packed in like sardines.
