I get absolutely furious when I hear McCain and his little pet girl talk about "Victory" in Iraq.
When ...... ***WHEN*** ...... did Obama or any other democrat call for us to 'cut and run' or otherwise leave Iraq in defeat?
When?
And further, by any definition of war, we won it to full and final completion when we hung Saddam. The Iraq 'War' is over and has been for a few years now. Since then, this has been a police action against an ever changing series of groups who have interests different from bush's.
But back to the original question:
WHAT DEMOCRAT ****EVER**** CALLED FOR US TO LEAVE IRAQ IN DEFEAT?????????????

1. Let 'em talk
The people are so sick of war and rumours of war that they are turned off by Mcwar's words. They dig their holes deeper every time. Don't let it bother you.

2. There is no way to "win" a military occupation.
Period.

3. Our mission is accomplished, so we must already be victorious
We won? Right?
But seriously, there is a group of people who think we can win this war and hold onto that thought. I've heard people say that we should spend every penny in the US, completely bankrupt us, if that's what it takes. Use nuclear weapons, whatever. It's one more way to appeal to the far right base.

4. Well, as you say, we won the war already, and it's only been an occupation for years...so how does leaving now constitute 'defeat'? They're just full of shit.

7. I become perturbed when I hear a Repub or any Dem speaking about Iraq without IDENTIFYING it as an illegal occupation of a foreign country. One of the only ones who does this is Kucinich. I wasnt terribly thrilled when Obama spoke of it as a war, when I would have preferred he use the phrase illegal occupation. I suppose he needs to garner votes that way, but I would like to believe he actually recognizes it for what it is..
I just cannot fathom what mindset still thinks it is an honourable 'war'.
Well, to be blunt, although it shouldn't be a surprise, because I've said it before.
The mission was accomplished when Saddam Hussein was hanged.
After that, the Iraqis should have been left to their own devices.
HOWEVER, imagine the hysterics and hoopla and hypocrisy of the Democrats, liberals, and primitives, whining alligator tears about our leaving Iraq with a damaged infrastructure, civil disorder, whatnot.
In trying to "rebuild" Iraq after Saddam was hanged, George Bush tried to please the Democrats, liberals, and primitives.....and as usual failed.
Some people and primitives are never happy; they'd gripe about it no matter what.

The phrase, "They're not unhappy unless they're not happy" comes to mind.

How about Japan and Germany? It seems to have turned out fairly well.

How about, Harry "the idiot" Reid, Nancy "the puke" Pelosi, John "I'v lost my integrety" Murtha, John "I'm a pathetic loser" Kerry, just to name a few, you dumb little punks!!!!!!!

TahitiNut--DUs self appointed expert on everything military.

When?
Since the beginning of 2004. It went into high gear in 2005 and then hyper-drive since they have had control of the Congress.
The DUchebags truly are in a different reality/planet/mental situation.

that's one campaign commercial the GOP absolutely dropped the ball on this election. using their own words against them and just hitting the replay button over and over and over.. it would be cheap to make; no words to write, no actors to pay. just run them together in one thirty second ad, then run that ad from here to kingdom come.

DUmmies pre-Dem nominee Il Duce - "We need to get out of Iraq -- NOW!!!!"
DUmmies post-Dem nominee Il Duce - "When did we ever say we needed to leave Iraq?"
Once again, to the libs it's not the policy, it's who's in office.

All that fury, yet too impotent to do anything with it. Sad.

And the DUmp's sexism leaks through the cracks once again.

I'd venture to opine that Japan went much further than Germany. I forget where I read it, but basically the analogy went as follows:
Europe was basically rebuilt in the FDR mode via the Marshall Plan, etc., and for that we get a system that leans heavily towards socialism. Japan, OTOH, was controlled after the war by MacArthur, a much more authoritarian figure and in a society that was much more ordered.
Sixty years later, I daresay the economy and diplomatic relations we have with Japan are far stronger than the ties we have with significant portions of Europe.
Just sayin.

Hard to say, it's difficult to make valid comparisons due to the large cultural differences between Germany and Japan. We have pretty deep and thorough economic and political ties to both, of course Germany has been a much more serious military partner due to the Cold War and lack of need or desire for Japan to ever seriously re-arm (though they've seemed more inclined to do so in a naval sense in recent years, due to China attempting to become a naval power).

I'd wager in a fight with a Japanese destroyer, that the Japanese destroyer would come out on top against almost anything that either the Russians or the Chinese could put against it. Except maybe a Kirov.
I remember something I saw a couple of years ago which indicated, that if the US and Japan decided to withhold their dues to the UN, that the UN budget would lose over 40% of its income for that year.

So what the hell are we waiting for?
Actually, I believe the figure is dependent on what the member nations' capacity to pay is. In 2002-2003, that figure was established for the U.S. at 22% of the UN's budget, which amounted to about $2.9 billion. In 2004, that went up to $4.2 billion.
I believe I read elsewhere that we've coughed up 24%.
Japan coughed up between 19-20% of the U.N. budget between 2001-2003. That's a lot of sake and Kobe beef.
Top three contributors are the U.S., Japan, and the UK.
Everyone else sucks hind tit. Or maybe WE'RE sucking hind tit because we haven't quite figured out just how useless the U.N. really is.
