Who voted "other" and didn't name where "other" was?
-
I did. "Other", meant anything other than that crap.

All "fast" food is "crap". What does that have to do with anything? :lmao:

In the words of Orwell:
"All fast food is crap; some is more crap than others."
I recommend finding a soup kitchen somewhere. Get yourself a nice hearty bowl of Dumpster de jour.

I voted 'other' too, none of the above sound terribly appetising. Couldn't you cook something tasty and quick instead?
-
"other."
Grab a gyro if they're available in your area. Otherwise Subway.
At least, that's what I'd do.

One would think I'd be a better cook being such a long time bachelor but alas, it is not so. And one can only eat spaghetti so many times per week, lol. Anywho, I'm a skinny guy, I can afford to eat junk a few times per month.
Boy! You guys are taking all the fun out of this otherwise goofy project. :p

Wendy's = YECH!!! The worst of all fast food burgers -- worse than McD's. Worse than Jack.
The others? Meh -- KFC is on the expensive side. I don't get to LJS very often but their fish is light enough and a nice break.

Gyros -- MMMMM (pronounced "Year-Oh" BTW). And Falafel: MMMMMMM.

If there's a Valentino's near you, which alas there probably isn't, go there.
If no Valentino's just go to the grovery store and pick up a carton of saltine crackers, because that's just as good--but cheaper than--your alternatives.

Hmmm. I have not had saltine crackers (outside of soup) since I was a kid. I used to make jelly sadwiches out of saltines while watching Saturday morning cartoons. LOL
Well, thanks for the thoughts folks, I'm off to... well somewhere. The car will show the way. I'm sure my choice will thoroughly disgust most of you. One wonders how these places stay open.
 :rotf:

1 eggroll
2 reg. tacos
1 lg. caramel iced coffee
That was my lunch today. You will have to guess where.

Is that a dinner version of Mock Apple Pie?

Jack In The Box?

Jack In The Box?
Of course. All the other places around here suck scissors (except DQ, which is not handy or cheap).
-
KFC...at least you can recognize the chicken...Lord only know what they put in that burger crap.
-
I say LJS only because they don't have any around here and I miss their hushpuppies. Plus they're MUCH cheaper than the fish places locally.
-

If you like good "fast" Greek food, and you haven't been there yet, I HIGHLY recommend you go to Daphne's.

I loved their Fire Feta, and the Gyro Plate was awesome.

Had a beef/lamb gyro at a Halloween street fair in Brevard NC on Saturday....it was delicious!!!!!
Brevard takes celebrating Halloween very seriously....it's in Transylvania County, NC.... :o
RS.....I voted for Wendy's.... :-)

LOL at this thread still going. You guys are fun after all. :cheersmate:
Just got back from Champps (sports bar) Had some chicken fingers and fries ans some Sam Adams beer. Watched some football. Swell times. (told ya'll the car would know where to go!)
-
Sports bars here are okay. Food is mostly so-so. Nothing like a National Sports Grill or Buffalo Wild Wings. Or Wingnuts in Costa Mesa.
Homemade potato chips with three different dipping sauces...mmmmmmm. And Far East Nachos--wonton crisps with chicken, olives, onions, and melting cheese...OMG.

For some reason, I feel slightly insulted. :loser:

No no. I thought I detected a wee bit of fast food snobbery at the start but it may very well have been concern for my health.
No hard feelings all. (I'm eveyone's friend after a couple beers of course) :p :p

I'm not a fan of Champs. The one here has crappy service and it's over priced food.

They are usually hotel restaurants. By definition: overpriced and underwhelming. One notch below airport restaurants.

Hey! I've had some great times and great food at DFW. They even have a Chili's!

That's pretty sad, actually.
I was in LAX a while back. I usually fly American (Terminal 4) where they had a Chili's. They were closed. Couple of days later I found out why--the health department had closed them down.
How badly do you, as an airport restaurant, have to SUCK to get shut down by the health deapartment?
-

And a Friday's -- but the food is more expensive than on "the outside" and the specials on TV aren't available. And good luck getting a table.
Remember, this is Mr. Flight you re talking to. I have been to hundreds of airport restaurants. That reminds me of something for my next Mr. Flight blog/post -- if you are alone you don't usually have to wait in that long line: they all have bars that will seat you or let you stand until someone leaves.

I have a really good friend that bartends at the Fridays in DFW. Makes great money. :)

Of course it is more expensive. You are in an airport! You are a captive clientell and capitalism is at work.
No, I don't actually fly as you do, but my Wife & Company does. I am the official airport "ride". I spend a bunch of time at DFW and Love Field. Some of the skycaps send Christmas cards.

I know a few kids who did this. Several $20.00 tips a day was not unusual. Mondays were REALLY good.

Of that, I am quite sure. Tips are a % of the bill, so if it is expensive, so the tips will be up. And travelers are always grateful for a sympathetic ear, or headed for vacation and are getting an early start on the liquid fun, and many have expense accounts that will pay the tab, so there are generous tips.
Not that they don't deserve it. I have greatly enjoyed layovers with good humored bartenders -- it makes a difference.

Most don't know or care that the gratuity is already figured in. They feel good when they leave the cash.

Don't take any of this this wrong -- you bring up a slew of questions that would be GREAT for Ask. Mr. Flight
Your wife flies 190,000 miles a year? That's pretty impressive. What does she do that carries her so far from home? Can she give me reviews fo "Ask Mr. Flight?" Particularly if she eats a lot at DFW. How do you get inside of security if she is the one flying? How do the skycaps know where to send the Christmas Cards? I don't use skycaps so I really don't know the relationships there. I was commuting to/from DFW for over 2 years -- weekly. I know there are 5 terminals at DFW, 4 which are American (although D is shared). I rarely got the same entrance twice -- how did you manage to get the same entrance so often? If I could swing that, it would be great -- It is probable I will have another engagement there in the DFW area.
Thanks in advance for answers -- this will be really helpful for other frequent (or even infrequent) fliers.

I don't see it as a line item -- am I missing something? They are pre-tipped?

The way I read it is if the check reaches a certain amount then there is an automatic gratuity...like at other restaurants who add on to a check of, say, six or more. I think it is 18%.
With some bar tabs, it doesn't take long to cross that "golden amount". Men pay it and leave a cash tip to boot.

I'll have to check into it -- great inside info.
