I did find the quote ironic, as their site embraces "witches" and we're supposed to hate them, and all that...

Of course, Jefferson was writing in a very different world than ours. Still, how ironic to see on so many liberal websites this passage from a slave-owning anti-semite who was writing it to defend the Republican Party.

Okay lets assume obama wins the election and is forrmulating his economic policies.
The grown ups around him will tell him that in the face of a recession you can`t raise taxes on businesses as it will result in lay offs and higher prices.
He will back away and the DUmmies will slowly realize that they are not going to be set for life without earning it.
He will try some token far left things that will fail as the center sees him for what he is.
DUmmies will be in tears and hysterics....saw the movie before here.

If he gets in, I say let him do whatever the hell he wants, as long as he doesn't try for the fairness doctrine or institute a weapons ban. If he does, then in 2010 the Republicans will be firmly returned to control.
If he wants to kill talk radio or grab guns, then the rot is far deeper and more extreme measures may become necessary.

I'm pretty sure that the Fairness Doctrine is high on his list; the thing is, the SCOTUS is probably inclined to shoot it down.

I don't see 'Spiritual renewal' being in the cards no matter who wins, aside from the reaffirmation that we are indeed a democracy with scheduled elections that occur as planned. More like a choice between the Children's Crusade or girding ourselves for the equivalent of the Battle of Tours.
