A mugging with a political bent - (this is NOT a nice story at all)
Just reported on MSNBC by Melissa Rayberger (sp??)
A young woman took time off from college and was working for the McCain campaign (I think in NC). She was walking back to her car and stopped at an ATM. A mugger comes up and wielding a knife, takes her money.
Somehow he notices her McCain bumper sticker. He goes back to her and, with the knife, carves a "B" on her cheek. The story was reported by saying the "B" somehow was intended to stand for "Barack".
The woman is reported to be on her way to a full recovery.

I dunno.

She said it happened at an ATM. Don't those have cameras?
Her mugger was a black man, she somehow knew he saw her bumper sticker, and her injuries are not very deep.
I want to see the video first.

First off ..... I just heard it and posted what I heard. Sorry of that offends you.
Second off ..... there is no similar story on the first page and none came up in the DU-generated list one normally sees as one is posting a new thread. Sorry if that offends you.
Third off ..... I was quite calm in posting what I posted. Sorry if you read it otherwise.
Fourth off ...... When I hear it on the news, and it is an insignificant (human interest) sort of story I tend to take it at face value. Sorry if that offends you. Yes, I know the news is slanted and less than reliable, but some things just don't seem to fall into that category.
Can I please be allowed to continue living?

Sounds like he wasn't that confident in his ability to draw curves with a knife. And I would rather imagine he verbalized something to her which indicated the significance of his intended mutilation, and what provoked it.
