Title: Dem Senator: Fairness Doctrine Is A "Higher Calling"
Post by: TheSarge on October 23, 2008, 11:06:18 AM
Bingaman defected from Hillary to support Obama. He's the guy talking about a new Fairness Doctrine yesterday - audio below from the Jim Villanucci show on KKOB.

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has gained the Senate majority with the defection and endorsement of a former Hillary Clinton supporter, Senator Jeff Bingaman.

While this would suck for us in radio, this would absolutely devestate Dems in the MSM through TV and Internet.  How can they support this?

They'll make it so that it doesn't pertain to TV and news shows and News Papers. Radio is their primary target, but they'll find some way to include the Fox News Channel in there also.

Because it never was nor will be about outlets like the NY Times NBC or CNN.

Dems look at the era of the Fariness Doctorine as "the good old days" when the liberal media controlled anything and everything we say that was news.  No one was out there then to counter their propaganda.

They want a return to that.

It has nothing to do with fair and everything to do with muzzling the likes of Fox News...Rush Limbaugh and Michelle Malkin.

No but with Obama needing money for his social welfare programs...I could see him proposing higher taxes on satellite tv and radio...higer fees on cable bills and hell maybe even yearly taxes on TV's like they do in England...to fund the crap no one will listen to.

Isn't that how they fund the National Propaganda Radio and Pubic Broadcasting Corp. now?

The Fairness Doctrine expired in the late 80's, about the same time Rush Limbaugh's career took off. Talk radio has been a thorn in the side of the left ever since - FOX News and the internet, any other type of "alternative media" will probably be worked up into a new version of this bill, which I don't think will ever see the light of day unless the improbable happens, they get the numbers to pass it, and they'll tell themselves they have a mandate to do so in the name of "change".

At that time, they probably could pass it over the protests of millions of talk-radio listeners because of its Orwellian name and the entire government would be controlled by arrogant totalitarians. Barack Hussein Obama and his ilk only think the 1st Amendment applies to them. There would be a Canadian-styled "hate crimes" bill passed ASAP by them as well.

That doesn't make a difference - all that matters is that conservative talk radio tanks.

I didn't catch it until it aired on Mike Church's show this morning.  Needless to say I was slack jawed when it played.
