http://www.usmessageboard.com/elections-2008/61815-over-40-million-americans-living-in-extreme-poverty.html
Why is that?
-
Why do our impoverished people have XBoxes, PS3's, 24" rims, jacked up 4WD's, etc.?
These dipshits need to visit some of the places I've been. Poverty here? Doesn't exist.
-
What idiocy, here "extreme poverty" means your car is over 10 years old, your computer is obosolete, you don't yet have a plasma TV, AND YOU LIVE IN A HOME OF 1200 SQ FT OR LESS. iN THE usa, THAT'S EXTREME POVERTY.
In Kenya where Barry's brother lives, extreme poverty is living in a large packing crate, and having to fight to keep even THAT, and living on $12 a year.

While those of us that work our tails off struggle to have our earnings taken from us so ourinpoverished can buy these things.
-
There is a reason that it is called the population curve... or normal distribution.

But, they deserve all those things. It's their civil right to have them and have them they will. They fully expect Bwack to see they have even more.
The only poverty I've personally seen is in parts of Appalachia off the beaten track. It was bad, but didn't approach abject.
-
I thought that I had read somewhere that most of the people living far below the poverty line tend to be white and living in the rural and mountainous areas of the Appalachian mountains and similar areas.

Lets see, check, check, check(if one counts), almost and no cable/satelite TV....OH NO's, I'm living in extreme poverty. I'm glad ya'll let me know otherwise I might have been happy and voted for McCain.

Me too.
My family is from that area; some still live there, although none in poverty any longer. Up in the hollers things can be pretty tight. The strange thing is that most of those folks don't dwell on their situation. I don't think I heard 'poor me' more than once or twice. They just do the best they can with what they have.

And I'd bet anyone you heard that "poor me" from is looked on as the King of Losers by the other local folks who are financially just as poor.
-
Before anyone begins to discuss Americans in "extreme poverty", they need to take a tour of the barrios of Sao Paulo or of Hugo Chavez's Caracas.
People living literally like animals.
I've never been to Africa or SE Asia, but expect there are places there even worse.
To compare any American's condition with the miserable lives of these people is stupidity beyond imagination.

You'd best believe it! It's a source of pride that they don't look to a government agency to 'lift them' out of their situations. They know who they are, they know they've earned what little they may have and they don't look for handouts.
