Title: Flying shoe at Florida strip club spurs lawsuit
Post by: bijou on October 16, 2008, 08:43:38 AM
Quote
...A Margate man is suing a Pompano Beach strip club after he says a performer's shoe flew off during a pole dance, shattering the mirrored ceiling and causing glass, as well as the shoe, to hit him.

The Booby Trap breached "its duty when its employee failed to perform her routine in (a) reasonably safe manner," according to the Broward Circuit Court suit filed by Charles Privette. He is seeking at least $15,000 in damages.

I think there was a "Booby Trap" in Orlando back in the early 80's.  I don't remember mirrors on the ceiling, though.

Sounds like the place went more high-class after your last visit...

I was hit with a shoe once and about had my head took off by another....but I never hung around places like that....never....not more than, uh, twice.  :innocent:

I never considered suing either.

I think it's more prevalent since they started the "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

Before I was married, I used to go to the Booby Trap. It was a nice place and most of the women were really hot. One of the better strip clubs in south Florida.

This is actually a pretty righteous suit.  It isn't like that idiot a few years back who said he was hurt by a chick's big boobs.

This was a mirror getting shattered and the shards hurting this guy.  Whether it was a men's club or a shoe store, it is pretty painful and falls under negligence.

And he was most likely looking up at the time when this happened would have led to some painful injuries.

Where was that?  I only remember a few places outside the back gate (NPS side) because let's face it, OBT wasn't exactly a safe place for a single squid with a fresh paycheck.

Fox news actually covered this on Megyn's court this afternoon. They weren't to sympathetic about what happened to him. One said that's what you get for going to a strip club.

I'm betting the Bobby Trap is going to be packed the next few weeks with all the free publicity.

....and the moral of the story is: "Strippers that strip in glass houses shouldn't throw shoes."

I am pretty sure it's not the first time Shannon came home missing a shoe.

the guy is a bigger girl than the chick that lost her shoe:

Quote
He is seeking at least $15,000 in damages.

Privette's attorney, Omar Demetriou, said his client suffered a small laceration to his eyebrow, headaches and nose bleeds. Said Booby Trap general manager George Gettinger, "A quote from the paramedics was, 'I can't believe you even called us for this!'"

the guy got a scratch, and he wants a $15,000 band-aid.

I'll sell him a whole box for 15k.
