I managed to drag myself into work at 8am this morning. People were shocked. Shocked! And I'm dressed up in "business professional" so there's even more shock. LOL
I was invited to attend a NIADA event that's this afternoon at one of the auto auctions. It's through school, but I found out yesterday that the professor only invited 2 students to go with him. There are some Chinese officials in town and they're going to be there. I'm kinda excited, I've never been to the auction before and I was one of only 2 people that got invited to attend.

Getting ready to host a CR meeting on my own for the first time, and it's going to SUCK! :( My co-chair has off-campus business so he can't be with us today. Normally, the meetings run an hour, but with the year winding down, I'm making today's meeting 30 minutes. There isn't much to talk about, except for a couple of events we're participating in, as well as the election and folks' early voting experiences.
I have a doctor's appointment to get to later. Then back to my studies (unless the doctor gives me a prescription, then I will be heading to WalGreens. )

Usual...working through some lectures, maybe some cleaning later. not sure what's for dinner, etc etc.
Mia, best of luck with the auction. Sounds like such a great opportunity.

Hopping in the shower now, heading to work in about 45 minutes. Will try not to go insane with boredom between now and midnight.

And then tonight I'll be busy busy busy studying away for my algebra exam that's tomorrow. Plus I have to finish reading a chapter for my dealership class since there's supposed to be a quiz tomorrow.
Plus, it's the season finale on Project Runway tonight!

Okay, that meeting is over with. Now, I'm playing on a Student Center computer until class starts.
Just got jumped by some AASU website folks interviewing students regarding the economy. I did fairly well, despite my nerves trying to get to me. After they shut off the camera (I was being filmed! :o ), they told me my answers were some of the best, as all they'd been hearing from others was to "vote for a certain candidate." :whatever: They told me the other students didn't actually offer practical solutions. Questions they asked me were to the effect of "How is the economy affecting you?" "What do you do to cut back on spending?" and my solution for the economy (NO BAILOUT!).
All in all, I think it went well. I just ask that no one here go try to find that video if it gets posted. :uhsure: :p

Just got home from day 3 of apple making...we made 223 on our shift...I think so far we've made between 900 and 1000, so we need about 600-700 more.
Tonight is a quiet night for us, just dance, so I'm happy!

Cripes.
I managed to fall asleep at 5 am and my wife took care of the kids this morning and apparantly let me sleep in.
I just woke up about 15 minutes ago. :p

I am wondering if I am coming down with something. My stomach has been all wiggly since I got up.

Really beautiful day in Denver. Started blowing out sprinklers today.
Really easy $40 per and 2 guys can do lots of them per day.

I just got home from that NIADA event today. There were about 18 Chinese officials there, 1 woman and the rest men (only 2 women total her and me). She is the secretary general of the Chinese version of the NADA. She had a lot of questions on how the NIADA and NADA work, organize and how they collaborate together. Then there were questions about how my school works in conjunction with them as well.
Then a lot of general questions from everyone else about used cars, auctions and extended warranties. Then we took a little mini tour of where the auction actually takes place and there was more questions about how it works here.
It was really interesting and I'm really glad that I got to go.
NIADA is the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association. NADA is National Automobile Dealers Association. NIADA is for used cars and NADA is new cars.

I like Walgreens.
I seen in the newspaper that they now have a new CEO.

NADA also publishes the "book" that dealers use to value trades.
The little books are "yellow" and often confused with the term "blue book"
Sounds like a very interesting meeting. All my years in the automotive biz and I have never been to an auto auction....strange....used to do alot of frame/unibody inspections for a pretty large midwest auto auction, it was amazing the stuff we would find when we would try to measure the cars.

We use the Black Book over the NADA book for used car values.

Used that one alot also.
When it came time to justify our retail price on pre-owned....we would show them Kelly Blue Book online. :rotf:

Just one more reason to hate car dealers.

Just get educated and shop around.
I was pretty honest, and my customers loved me, I was the internet sales manager, so I would give the customer the best price the first time...you could always tell they had been shopping around, and they would jump at my price.
