After tommorow, I will be gone........
Folks, I am headed out. Sold all my stuff and getting outta Dodge. Bought a motorcycle, a new camera and am off to see the good ol US of A. Won't be posting here much, no laptop so my computer use will be limited to libraries on the road.
My only plan is to make the Obama inauguration. I am thinking of riding the CA coast to LA then taking the southern route to New Orleans. Hit the grand canyon, Taos, Santa Fe, Austin. I ahve some relatives in South carolina nd Georgia and might like to try to make NYC and Vermont sometime.....
I just cannot deal with my parents any more, Death threats, spying, fliers about what an asshole I am, accusations of theft etc. I just have to go. My Mom won't control my dad and nobody else will either. I can't take the abuse and hate to see my Mom take it.
So I am out. One thing I would like to do is meet some of you all. So if you have ever thought that maybe you might like to meet me or might want to help me out when I am out on the road please PM me and lt me know your contact info.
If you have any must sees on the way let me know. Cool places to stay, hostels, places I can work for a day or two etc.....
Anyways folks, it has been a pleasure being here. It has been fun, full of shits and giggles, and I hope I did not piss too many of you off.

8. Yeah that is what I am trying to do.....
To show the beautiful people that live here in the US. To show the sights and the kindness that I am going to need to survive. I have faith in merica and it's people, but sitting here on the computer I am not getting that much. All I am seeing lately is the worst part of the american experience and people.(except for DU and other leftie liberal commie sites) So it is time for me to see things I haven't seen and meet people I haven't met yet.
Fortunately I am a huge guy, so I have never felt afraid in any city in the US, people are pretty much afraid to mess with me so that is a plus.
And then PHISH tour busts out in March and that will be some fun I haven't had in a four years so that will be something to do and some income.
BTW< go to Sirius and listen to the Dead for Obama show right now....

OK, so, giving the benefit of the doubt, at this point DUmmy BennyBoy has net worth of around $100.
Bought a motorcycle, a new camera
Now he's way, way, way in the red. But of course these went on a credit card belonging to his abusive dad.

Right. Three thousand miles or so, on a bike, with no money, until he reaches relatives he hopes to sponge off. Then up the east coast, in the winter, on a bike, with no money.
The last sane people to successfully cross the continent with this little planning were, I believe, named Lewis and Clark.
They didn't have a bike, but they had lots of money and supplies.
DUmmy BennyBoy will be back in the basement bedroom before Halloween.

Well, I live in Austin so maybe I could PM him and make sure he stops here on his way to DC in January on a motorcycle.
We could invite him over for dinner and make sure that Fox News is playing on all the TVs, we could have Sarah Palin and John McCain posters all around, and Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity playing on the radio.
He'd probably never leave.
My husband and I were going to offer up our house for the nutroots that were here for the nutroots convention earlier this summer. We were going to provide the same entertainment for them, too.

43. Wow my son did that about a year ago...
Hopped a train and took off and landed in St Pete. He had friends there and now he has good job there and is pretty happy.
He's whining about living with Mom and dad and he has a full grown son and if you look at his avatar pic he's probably in his 50's. :-)

It is a mid 80's Honda 550 shaft drive with low miles. Not the cruiser, but for the money I got it will have to do.
I used to ride a lot back in the day but not for along time. i ahve a few local things to do so I will be able to get my feet wet (I hope my feet don't get wet!) before I take off to see the good ol USA.
And yeah I can do some maintenance. The bike is good shpae so I hope I am okay. Got the AAA card if not.

That'll last up until he hits about the 6000 foot level on I-40 going towards Flagstaff.

This fella is going ot have a tough trip. Even travel in a car can be miserable at times, but you deal with it to enjoy the ride. This should be interesting.

This was the FIRST thing to cross my mind! I left San Diego on a motorcycle bound for Crane, Missouri in October of 1983. I took I-10 to Phoenix then I-17 to Flagstaff to get on I-40. It wasn't too bad from San Diego to Pheonix .... It wasn't too bad when I left Phoenix ..... As I got closer to Flagstaff OH BOY! I didn't have any money so I stopped and bought a pair of (don't tell anyone this or I will hunt you down) pantyhose to wear under my jeans. It helped quite a bit (and made me feel just a little bit sexy :-))
As soon as I read what DUmbass wrote it brought this trip back to me and that was only in October. I didn't stay to the north like DUmbass is suggesting. I wish it luck and a safe ride but .... damn what an idiot.
$100 says it changes its plans along the way.
hehe Kind of reminds me of that scene in DUmb and DUmber when they pull into Colorado on the mini-bike with frozen snot and piss hangin' off them.

Yep! Lived out in Phoenix area for many years. While a lovely, but maybe crisp, ride at times over the next few months, it will be downright chilly at night and in the morning. Hell, there was even a bit of snow on the Estrella mountain a year or two I lived there. It gets colder the further north one goes.
Those enchiladas sound awesome. Given it's cooling down here, I may have to root out my enchilada recipe now that you mention it.

One of his many problems will be that most, if not all, the offers of lodging, food, etc., will be bogus.
He has no idea how large the mole population is.
Nothing like scooting 100 miles, in cold weather, to look up a non-existent address.
Eventually BennyBoy will probably outlive his parents, and move upstairs.
In DUmmyland, that's upward mobility.

You know, I was just thinking how reality may just come to bite him in the tush in more ways then just the elements on this trip. First off, he may find out that just like mom and dad, other people may(read will) expect you to work for something. Even the 'sweet liberals' who seem to want nothing, will probably be rifling through his bag for something of value when he's catching a nap.
Now, when he does find the hospitable person out there, of which there are many, it may shatters his small liberal existence to find that conservatives are nice people too.
I actually think since nothing in this person's 50 something year existence has opened their eyes, that perhaps interacting with someone other then DUers outside of his family members may be just the thing to nudge along at the very least a little tolerance(don't they love that anyway?) of the other side. After all, those he will have to depend on the kindness of aren't likely to all be liberals, especially if he's venturing outside of the larger metropolis areas.

Yeah, it is kind of Tex-Mex. You notice a distinct difference between Mexican food in CA, AZ, and NM/TX.
Hell, half the places I went in CA you couldn't even get a sopapilla, whereas in NM they were there more often than chips.
I miss Anita's in Fullerton. I haven't been to Sadie's in Albuquerque in years, but still remember it well. :(

I will admit, I rode my last motorcycle from one end of town to the other in the middle of January, but that was because I was too cheap to have it towed. The ride wasn't bad if you dress right.
A few years ago my nephew got a bicycle for Christmas. He thought it was the coolest thing in the world. Even cooler than Uncle Hacksaw's Harley. Anyway, I told him that when it got nice, him and I would get on our bikes and "pick up chicks". When I asked him what we would do with them once we picked them up, he said, "Take them to get ice cream".
The next day, the sun came out and it was a beautiful winter day in Indiana. Beautiful blue sky and a temperature of about 34 degrees. Then the phone rang. When I answered it there was a little 5 year old voice on the other end saying, "Uncle Hacksaw? It's nice outside. Do you want to go pick up chicks on our bikes now?"
I put on about every stitch of clothing I owned, coaxed the Harley to life and rode the 7 miles to my brother's house. Thank GOD he had coffee waiting on me when I got there! From that point on, I made sure I was more specific when I spoke with my nephew!

One of the guys in the motorcycle group I rode with was a heart transplant recipient. He was giving a Sunday school class at one of the churches we crashed and was telling the little kids about his heart transplant.

I no. I was 'x2'ing the runny eggs. But I used a x2 instead of a X2.
Runny eggs ..... mmmmmm. The white has GOT to be cooked but I prefer the yella part to be all over the plate!

I just can't do it with the eggs. Strangely, I used to like it as a kid and then my dad got all weird about pulling that white snotty piece out of the eggs before cooking them and it grossed me out and I did it for a long time. At least I'm over that now, but everything must be fully cooked--that's why I usually get omelettes or hard boiled eggs(not soft boiled--HARD boiled eggs).

Whoa Nellie! I seem to remember that the cooks at both of the armored cavalry squadrons I was in (as a SIGO) had some good food. 'Course, the only time I really ate it was in the field. But, my commo sergeant put it this way: "Sir, if we make sure their phones are alright back in garrison, and at Graf (or Dona Ana), they will take care of us in the field." Our mess hall, when I was in 2d ACR, was chosen regularly by the RCO to eat in--above the RHHT's mess hall. Matter of fact, the VII Corps commander told the RCO at Thanksgiving at Graf, "We're not going to the Regimental mess hall--1st Squadron's will do just fine." The SCO was all smiles, and the mess hall sergeants got impact ARCOMs. The mess hall enlisted got impact AAMs. Everyone was happy--except, maybe, the RHHT commander.

The longest rides I've done were through a couple of states to get to the beach on the other side. I still want to do a cross-country ride (or at least most of it). There's not much in California that I give a crap about, but I would like to see the deserts out west.

Get thee to Texas. I'm organizing a guy ride for June 2009. I put one together every year. It us just guys and we can scratch our nuts, fart, drink cogniac/beer/tequila/whiskey (you get the idea), eat what ever we want ...... the list is endless.
We have gone to Big Bend National park a couple of times (about 750 miles from us here), Rode the Dragon in North Carolina, gone to the Ozark mountains, gone to the hill country and in JUNE 2009 we are riding to Angel Fire, New Mexico to ride the mountains and jump up into Colorado.
Chicks picked up along the way are not welcome at the house. LOL

On my way to the Smokies about a decade ago, I got passed by some 70-year-old retiree. We met up at the Hardees in McMinville (it was the only thing there). I miss getting to meet people on the road. It's a completely different experience.

I LOVE meeting folks on the road. When I was riding colors I used to get a lot of questions. I no longer fly anyone's colors but it is still cool to visit with folks on the road. It is especially cool when you are in North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Alabama, et al., and folks see your Texas tag and ask "Did you ride that thing here?" .... hehehe

I wish I had a garage. I had the day off today but it's miserable and dreary outside and I didn't want to go out there to bleed the new calipers I put on. It runs fine though, but could probably use a valve adjustment. My last Honda had hydraulic tappets that never needed maintenance. That bike was nearly brand new despite being ten years old. This one only has 20k but has wear from sitting and having an idiot for an owner before I got it.

Those are some nice bikes. When I left San Diego back in '83 I rode a Yamaha 650 special to Missouri and when I got there one of my brothers had a H*nda CB ..... It was a smooth running bike.
