Mine is somewhere near the back of my skull chipping through limestone right now.
I swear I would not be able to function without coffee.
I have to start painting a bunch of stuff this week in preparation for a convention the weekend of the 26th. Nothing real difficult but stuff I've been putting off.
We start the whole merry go round of who needs to be where at what time again today. Pretty nice today again. High 70's and sunny. I also get to call the exterminator today and see if they can do a yard treatment to try to cut down on the box elders, ants and Japanese beetles here.
I feel pretty good though. Went to bed at a semi decent hour and woke up pretty cheerful. Small favors.

Up bright and early here. Other half is home today and we have a ton of stuff to do in prep for the cooler weather. Today will be the day for that. Alreayd working on cleaning the basement where a pipe from the a/c unit that runs out the condensation broke..it's yucky, but it's getting there. :banghead: We knew that had toppriority since there is a good chance we might have to pop the furnace on here and there by the weekend. I get to climb up on a ladder today too and clean the screens. I'll still go workout for a couple hours tnight though after all is said and done.
Anyhoo, have a good day all.

Make sure you change that filter! I just changed mine because of the duct work I did this weekend. Thank God that drudgery is over! :banghead: :-)

I left my sanity in my therapy session friday afternoon, where I am undergoing treatment for my petrifying terror that we are about to hand the country over to a very talented teleprompter reader with a hidden socialist agenda.
-
Meh, screw it. Day off but can't do anything because I'm on call and can't drink or go more than an hour from the plant. Pretty much narrows my choices of activities for the day.
Made/making a ton of food for this week since I'm working backshift and won't have the time/motivation to cook when I get home around 12:30 AM. Three meals of spaghetti/Italian sausage, some ham casserole au gratin, setting aside the leftover chinese food to make for lunch, and baking a loaf of banana bread now and the whole house smells GOOD.
Hard to believe I'm going to have to motivate myself to get off my ass and do some running this afternoon.

My in-laws came this weekend on their way to Austin to visit my husband's cousin and her family. My mother-in-law started a fire on our porch. :thatsright: She smokes and usually does it on our porch. She put her cigarette out in a pot with dried up potting soil and went inside. About 10 minutes later my father-in-law said our porch was smoking. The whole porch was filled with smoke. We were getting ready to go out to eat and if we wouldn't have noticed it before we left our house could have caught fire. Anyway....they are driving across country and will end up in Phoenix visiting my husband's aunt. It forced me to clean my house really well so now I have nothing to do.
Well I do have laundry to do but I can't do it. My dryer died thursday and it really pisses me off. It is less than two years old. All the lights come on and everything but when I push the start button all it dose is click and nothing happens. We took the front off to look at instructions (I had to search online to find out where they were) to do a diagnostics to determine what it was and it didn't detect anything. So we called a Sears repairman and he will be out today sometime before noon. I swear I wish I had my first washer and dryer. It was nothing fancy but I had it 12 years and never had a thing go wrong with it. Then I sold it to some friends and bought a new Maytag set when we moved into this house. I had nothing but trouble with the washer from the get go. The washer finally died only 5 years after buying it (4 service calls later though out the 5 years). Then I bought the new front load washer and dryer in January 2007. I haven't had any trouble with either of them until now and was really happy with them until the dryer died. I sure hope this isn't something that is going to continue to happen. By the way, that washer and dryer I sold my friend.....they are still working. :censored:
We bought some wall stickers at IKEA to put on my oldest daughters wall. We put them on her wall yesterday and it looks really cute. We were surprised how good it really looks. I'll take a picture sometime and show you all. Here is a picture of the stickers (we got the black ones, her walls are painted lavender), you can reposition each piece like Colorforms but they stick really well. You don't have to use them exactly like they are shown in the picture below as each piece is separate.

As soon as the repairman gets here and fixes my dryer (he just called, he will be here in 15 minutes) I'm going to go to the grocery store. The kids have today off and they both had someone spend the night. One of the friends has already left, the other one tends to stick around FOREVER.

Ahh, Monday at work. The saving grace is there's no mail or bank today. w00t!
I've already listened to my boss' general bitching about her son. He's a straight up loser, 25 lives at home, has a 6 year old that when it's his weekend basically his mom takes care of him. Oh and he makes at least $50,000/year as a VW tech (at another dealership). Oh and got a DUI a while ago and decided to not show up for court. :whatever:
This is an upgrade from her bitching about how "poor" she is. Seriously, her husband got a minor pay cut and now apparently she's on the rice and beans (and vodka) diet. The poor thing, they're having to sell their boat. She makes waaaaay more than me and wants to complain about "money" problems. She handles her personal finances very poorly (and I know this because she's told me) and yet she's in charge of the finances at work. :whatever:

Don't mean to laugh but your comment that I bolded above made me laugh. :p

It's so true though. And they're not desperate enough to be on the rice and bean diet, yet I'm sure later this week they'll be that poor. :whatever:
I like her, don't get me wrong, but sometimes I just want to say to her "seriously? seriously? You're going to complain about money to me? When I work in the one department in the entire dealership that doesn't ever get raises." Oh she gets raises since that comes from the GM, but her employees, never. (Yet another reason I'm going to school.)

Was up and working on a report by 6:30 this morning. Had it almost completed....about 7:30 the power zapped off.. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: Of course I hadn't hit save on it. :censored:
Had a 9:30 appt with a client at the office for some final contract signatures...couldn't get any info off of my computer.
Showered in the dark.
Power came on about quarter to 9. Couldn't get my computer to work. Went into the office and met with client, got everything done.
Came home about 11:30.....computer still hadn't booted back up.
Panic started to set in.
Turned on the TV (that had zapped out when the power zapped), sat down and my desk...started pushing keys, buttons, moving the mouse.....nothing.
Did y'all know that when the power zaps off.....it turns the computer completely off.....and you have to manually turn the damn thing back on?
:thatsright: :thatsright: :thatsright:
I hate Mondays..... :censored: :censored: :censored:

I'm back in Savannah. My car is at 300 miles on the trip odometer (always reset it after filling up) and is showing a half-tank of gas (18 gallon tank). At this rate, my car's going to break its own record. :-)
Gotta go to work at 3:30, but I get Tuesday and Wednesday off to recover (no class on Tuesday, as its still Fall Break). But I'll be working on that literature review for a particular course (as I slacked off a bit).

My in-laws came this weekend on their way to Austin to visit my husband's cousin and her family. My mother-in-law started a fire on our porch.
Glad you caught the fire before you left the house.
The worse thing I ever had to go through was a house fire. Filling the dumpster after the fire was not fun and brought alot of tears.
It's been four years but I can still smell it. I lived alone in a 2200 sqaure foot home, and it was full of my stuff that had to be thrown out after the fire, mostly due to smoke damage. It was an electrical fire that started in the bedroom, I was on vacation, if I was home sleeping, they said I would not of made it out. Everything in my bedroom was black ash.
Fire now scares me.
As for Monday, well it's Monday....yesterday I could not make anyone happy and was accused of a few things that I did not do....oh well..I am better off with those people not in my life (and I let them know that).....I will miss her kids....
Today my mom calls, saying she thought I was short with her on the phone YESTERDAY (I talked to her twice after that yesterday) but today she is mad about it, she called just as I was ready to step into the shower...when I tried to call her back she was taking a nap and missed the call....so now I am some type of bad son for not calling her back until a couple hours later...of course, then she checks her "missed calls" and sees that I did call...LOL.....I can't win....
Now my cell phone is not working very well. I think I broke something when I threw it against the wall. :banghead:
I usually do not let myself get this mad or upset. I spend alot of time, and sometimes money trying to keep everyone happy....I give up.
Now I must get ready for work, for an eight hour shift of customers yelling at me. :lmao:
I love the abuse, it must make me stronger. :bs:

2:30 and this is the first opportunity i've had to get on the puter today. :banghead:
Spent my morning helping make about 200 gourmet apples (dipped in caramel, then chocolate, then sprinkled with various toppings, then drizzled with more (contrasting) chocolate). I get to do it again tomorrow, and the next day, and most likely the day after that, too.
Other than that, just hanging out today.

Yes, sir, mr. toast. :-* Filter is out and we will head to Lowe's in a bit to replace it. We even got the brush to clean out the drier vent with earlier today. Still at it though. The girl children wanted her parents to meet her for lunch so that ate up about an hour :thatsright: My basement floors are immaculate though and the whole place has the very sterile smell of light bleach. :-) I don't think my basement fllors have been this clean since we moved in.

I've had the issue you have with your washer/dryer with vacuums. I wish my old one I had for years still worked. Had that for so long and then it finally died. Now I average about one a year. Finally bought a bag vacuum again this year. I hate hate hate bagless vacuum cleaners.

Yeppers--I'm not a big fan of fire either, so why the hell did I join the Navy?
Because the Coast Guard wanted real men? :-)
BTW , What is this Sanity of which you speak of? I'm afraid I lost mine the minute I volunteered to jump out of helicopters attached to a 120 feet of rope.
-
That moment lasted about 30 seconds.
Yes, but what a very pleasant 30 seconds, no?
-
The only real one is in the middle. The rest are dummies along for the ride.
Oh, no. No no no no no!!! I thought that kind of act couldn't get any creepier, but to do it with clowns! Holy crap! I'm going to have nightmares now. I know it.

Nah, I'm too short for the Coast Guard. You know how it goes, they only want guys over 6' so if the ship sinks they can all walk to shore.
My house burned down with me in it when I was 12. So I join the one service that's all geeked out about everyone knowing how to (and actually doing it) fighting fires? Yes, I've been in several--GD shipyard workers.
Hey, I used to be on ships DESIGNED to sink. No rope. No life vests. No scuba tank. No shit.
Wanna talk man stories? You find out real fast who the real men are when you're going through 800 feet with a 20-degree down angle, can't reverse, and the Chief of the Watch can't get the trim pump started. Pucker Factor 10,000.
-
No, pucker factor is losing an engine in a CH-46D with a full internal load of tools and pax (passengers)and making an emergency water landing or coming in for a carrier landing in a COD, praying the pilot doesn't miss the wire.
-
Yeah, that's true, because if an airedale shit himself dry, you could bury him in a matchbox.

Why does that description remind me of this?
"What's the matter Commander? You don't like flying, huh? Aw, this is nothing! You should've been with us five, six months ago! Whoa! You talk about puke! We ran into a hailstorm over the Sea of Japan. Everybody's retching their guts out! The pilot shot his lunch all over the windshield, and I barfed on the radio! Shorted it out completely! And it wasn't that lightweight stuff either, it was that chunky industrial weight puke! Hey, you want a bite?"
-
I was riding in the back of a Huey at Ft Irwin one time when a black crow or something like hit the left winshield in front ofthe co pilot that was in control of the aircraft as we were flying a few hundred feet abouve the sand dunes. blood and feathers all over the left side.

Ya know the worst thing about a healthcare job? There are NO automatic days off. If Christmas is a day I'm normally scheduled to work, I have to take a vacation day to be gone...so I was at work today.
Other than that, there were bright spots. The stockmarket went up!! Also, one of our democrats came in my office and started some stuff...and my boss wasn't there to shove him out and tell me to shut-up. I had fun. :-) :-) :-)
