Over the last 37 years, ACORN (Association of Community Organizations
for Reform Now) has developed and honed the key elements of broad-
based organizing. Today, ACORN is the largest direct-action
organization of low-to-moderate income people in the nation. Go to

Why work for ACORN?
Work as a grassroots organizer to build power for low & moderate
income communities and communities of color. Don't just help people
win on their day to day & long term issues, help alter the relations

How to get started:
ACORN's LAST GROUP INTERVIEW for the 2007 Organizer Training Academy
IS THIS MONDAY (APRIL 16th) at 5:30 pm (Orlando ACORN, 714 E. Colonial
Dr). Please arrive early and prepared to spend 1 1/2 hours for the
interview. Once you have successfully completed the interview
process, you will be invited to the Academy, April 20-21.
What is this Organizer Training Academy?
ACORN understands that community organizing experience is rare, so we
train a lot! At the Academy, you will be a part of discussions on
community & political organizing, power, and building a mass-based
movement; seminars on direct action, leadership development, campaign
planning & implementation; readings from Alinsky, Chavez, Obama &
others; and take part in direct action! Outstanding applicants will
then be selected to work as an ACORN organizer.

>From Monday, January 22nd to April 15th, Orlando ACORN will be
operating
a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site at its office at 714
East
Colonial Drive. This service is free of charge and is in partnership
with the Internal Revenue Service & Orange County. Hours of
operation
are Monday-Friday 2:00-8:00pm and Saturdays from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.
Appointments are suggested but walk-ins are always welcome. Please
