CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- A fifth grade Clarksville teacher was suspected on Thursday by her students of being drunk at school.
A student's mother, who did not want to be identified, said that when her 10-year-old son came home from Barkers Mill Elementary school, she said she was shocked what he told her.
"'Mom, I had a crazy day at school today. Ms. Potoschnik was drunk,'" the mother said that her son told her.
Her son's classmate told his mother the same story. The students claim that on Thursday morning their teacher, Kelley Potoschnik, kept drinking something out of a cup that smelled like alcohol.
"She started acting real loopy. She stumbled over kids. She had her arm around different students saying, 'Why don't you come home with me tonight?'" said the mother.
After the teacher tried to send the kids to lunch an hour early, one student told another teacher. School officials confiscated the cup and sent the teacher to the hospital. ...

As ridiculous as this sounds...The school district will probably send her to rehab and she will be back teaching within a couple of months!

Alcoholism is now considered to be an illness. Most Unions require that the "victim" be allowed treatment and NO action may be taken against him/her.

As far as I'm concerned, the only problem here is that the teacher in question is such a lightweight (and possibly also a pedophile, judging by her comments). But hell, if I had to work around ten-year-olds all day I'd be boozing on the job too.

Oh, it gets better. Seems a Driver's Ed teacher was drunk on the job down in Portsmouth a couple years back.
Now THAT'S responsibility!
