Title: Squirrel leaves trail of destruction in its wake
Post by: thundley4 on October 09, 2008, 01:41:40 PM
Now the squirrels are attacking !!!
Quote
SPOKANE -- A squirrel ignited a fiery chain reaction that led to a power line collapse, car fire, natural gas fire and a power outage in northwest Spokane Wednesday morning.

It all started at 8:22 a.m. in the 4900 block of North Hartley at Wellesley when, according to Avista investigators, a squirrel came in contact with a transformer. That single action set in motion a chain of events.

After working for a few cable tv companies, I've come to HATE "tree rats".....
Title: Re: Squirrel leaves trail of destruction in its wake
Post by: Thor on October 09, 2008, 05:10:04 PM
BTW, "tree rats" and deer  hold about the same amount of destruction, just that the tree rats' destruction isn't always as visible.

Yeah, hit a tree rat with a truck and hardly notice.  Hit a deer at 50 mph and you may notice a bit of damage.   :uhsure:

Not sure what they are classified as but gray squirrel is good eating as small game goes.
Rabbit is too, while raccoon is okay and woodchuck is the bottom as far as things I have had.

I've only had rabbit.  It wasn't bad... a little dry and tasted like chicken.  I wouldn't mind having it again, but I have nobody to go hunting with

FLASH of electric blue light, sound of a 10 GA. going off some debris from the telephone/ power pole hits the ground and all the power goes dead. Computer and flat screen TV are toast. Entire block out of power for hours.

pOWER WAS RESTORED BY THE END OF THE DAY , and looking around to see what the debris was.....I spy fried tree rat. Even my dog only looked at it, looked disgusted, and moved on. Damned fool grounded itself. They do it all the time.

The deer babies apparently have been cut loose from their mommas.

Just went back into our bedroom and 2 little does and a little buck were eating and playing right outside the window. We were back there watching them for about 15 minutes.

The bottom of the window is only about a foot up from the floor and I don't have any window coverings so they have just as clear a look in as we do out.

I was sitting on a little stool near the floor and one of the cats was sitting in the window sill in front of me. Skyy wasn't all that interested in the little deer girl that I thought was going to come almost all the way up to the house. There's a magnolia tree outside that window, and she just kept coming closer. Her curiousity was on overdrive. She's so cute and her little legs are so fragile looking. She was fascinated by Skyy.

This is the first time I've seen the babies without their mommas.

We still have a set of twins wandering around with their momma. They were born late and are just about done losing their spots.

I usually use beef.  The Expired Meat counter is a great place to trim your grocery budget.  I only get something exotic when my stepdad has to put one of his animals down.

Ever try the pork+lamb+beef meatloaf mix that some stores sell? Crushed tomatoes, some tomato sauce, black beans and 2 Alarm chilli mix with added onion, one each red, green and yellow peppers makes pretty good quick chilli.

The only thing that "quick" chili does is fill the belly & make a turd..........

IMO, there should be nothing "quick" abut chilli.  Put it on the stove (or in the oven) and let it cook slowly for a day or so.

I don't always have a couple of days to cook anything. More than likely, my wife would throw it out.

Can't even get her to use the slow cooker, she's storing doll house shingles there right now.....
