My new tactic when speaking to wingnut coworkers and acquaintances
Sadly, I still know a handful of people who are still on the McCain Train and they just love to pick arguments with me.

So, today, while having one of those discussions, a few of them were saying that Obama doesn't have any experience and that he's soooooo dangerous. I replied calmly that McCain might have some experience, but it's the wrong kind of experience and will lead to four more disastrous years that our nation can simply not afford.

"But he's nothing like Bush! He's a maverick!" one of them exclaimed.

Wheels turned in my head and I dropped this one:

"But John McCain has voted with Bush 95% of the time!"

Almost in unison the three of them yelled back "Not 95%! 90%!!!!!!!"

And I just smiled while the silence washed over us and the hamster wheels in their brains began turning.

Try it, my friends. It's fun.

 :whatever:

Who cares? Lot's of her fellow dems voted for the same things. I'm actually more in line for keeping some semblence of status quo while changing the eco policies that got us the bailout. I can't expect status quo from Obama. He will try to bury the American public even more then they already are under a mountain of social policies that make people lazier and more stupid; and the more I hear of him, the more I think he's got issues with his mixed race that I'd rather not see further embroiled in American politics. He is also wrapped up in a big way with the housing fiasco which makes me tentative to have him anywhere near economic policy. I don't care about the maverick crap personally, I just don't want to see the country damaged anymore by someone who is quite possibly in bed with extremists and is tied to crooks like Raines.

Give them a chance. They'll prove their 'intellectualocity" yet.  :-)

That line has been repeated so often on television that my 8 year old can recite it for you! :-)

For the record, that "90%" number was true.  But it was only counting the votes he cast INSIDE of a specific time frame.

Any rational person would crap himself laughing at the notion that McCain was EVER lockstepped with Bush.

Oh, I'm sure it was, but 90% of the Senate votes are totally non-controversial procedures in the first place, I am just curious how many votes, out of the few he was present for, did Obama vote the same way as McCain?  And wat percentage of votes did he manage to miss entirely because most of his grand, Presidential-qualifying 20 months in the Senate has been spent running for President instead of actually being a Senator?

The majority of the votes in the US senate are by unanimous consent. Given that I bet Obama Voted with the President just as much as MCCain did.

That's what I'm thinking, Zeus, or something over the 80% line at least.  I would hope the McCain campaign could manage to find its ass with at least one hand sometime this week and address that point, since Obie has been hammering it all over the airways lately.  Maybe he's saving it for tonight, but I'm not sure, based on the campaign so far, that he looks at things that tactically.

Negative three bongs. Same old story and lack of effort. Fail.

Exactly -- even the least knowledgeable Republic knows the proper response is "at least he voted."

They aren't even trying.  They "slam winner" lines don't even work on 7 year olds.

Just reply "But Obama has voted against America 100% of the time!"  Then slap her.

The President doesn't vote on legislation moron.  So your arguement that you thought was so clever...now...not so much.

And you REALLY don't want to peek into the voting records and and see how much Barakstar! "voted with the President"

Rebutting DUmmies "arguements" is like shooting fish in a barrel...it's almost unfair.

We learned about how government works in fifth, yes fifth grade, and that was in public school too.  I guess this DUmbass must've been an elementary school dropout.
