I fall under mixed - something needed to be done, but I don't think this approach was right. Loading it up with pork and sugar made a bad bill worse.

I'll repeat my earlier comment - What happens down the road when loans reset? Another govt bailout? You can't plug a hole in a boat while someone is tearing at it with a claw hammer.

I really do feel "damned if we do, damned if we don't". Sadly, America as a whole has short term memory loss combined with partisan beliefs. That's a very dangerous combination.

I can only hope that we learn enough to steer us back on course so that next time (and there will be a next time) we won't be so shocked. Yeah...I know.

Here are my thoughts:

[runs around room Sam Kinison style screaming "McCain you ****ing whore" and tearing what remains of my hair out]

This thing has me seriously investigating third parties for the first time since 2000.

I'm begining to think this was nothing more then anattempt to sink the Republicans this year by getting them to vote for this pig without lipstick.

we had two options;

the bailout, or we die.

Well, while I don't necessairly like the plan that was passed, I do agree that something had to be done.

And though it passed, there's still quite a bumpy road ahead, but if they hadn't done anything almost all of us would be SOL.

All populist, media backed socialist pap votes are easy. Jeesey Pete. With friend's like McCain, who needs Obamaheads.

I think I've been fairly vocal about my opposition to this bill.

As for bail out or die...Scare tactics are usually just that ....to instill fear.

The market will still correct....and the taxpayers got hosed.

McCain lost my vote...even with Palin's suberb performance last night...McCain is at the top of the ticket and he doesn't deserve my vote.

I was listening to Mark Levin tonight and he did say something that stuck in my head...something that may make me reconsider my stance.  He said first defeat the socialist, and then take back the republican party .....back to reagan conservativism.

Palin will help us get there.  McCain is a bitter pill to swallow...but the alternative is worse.
I have some thinking to do in the next 4 weeks.

I'm just where you are now. (I think) I was a "hold my nose and vote McCain" supporter pretty early on. That is, after Fred fell and then Mitt fell. And Palin was and can be a saving grace in the party. I can't say I'm going 100% third party just yet but I'm more willing to go there than I have been in years. Part of the reason I say what I feel is that I'm too mad to think straight.

I was ready for McCain to stab us in the back here and there and was resolved to tough it out. However, this time McCain stabbed us in the heart. (thanks asshole)

I too have been thinking about checking out third party...but haven't yet.  I disliked McCain from the beginning...but others convinced me with the "the alternative is worse" angle.  And it worked, up until he was cheerleading this disaster of a bill. I really don't see a big distinction between he and Obama....he talks a big game, but he is still a stinking liberal...GLOBAL WARMNING..?!?!? wtf..drill in Anwar, you idiot....His whole "I crossed party lines" bullshit is also not a PLUS.  :banghead:

Ok..I'll stop now..I tolerated the above crap..but THIS BILL.  :bird: This is the beginning of socialism...and a republican helped us get there.

I voted for revolt. They just signed away 850 Billion dollars without even knowing if it would fix the problem. Add the costs of the FM FM bailout, AIG and one bank (?) and we are in the soup for well over a trillion. AND they don't know if this will work.  I say burn Washington and WallSTreet down to the ground. Then we need to start over. TERM LIMITS. for all. Basically what they have just done is soak us for over a trillion dollars so we can continue to provided credit to many who may or may not pay it back.  Schwartz in California has stepped forward, wants 7 Billion for his state? Why does his state have a 7 Billion dollar shortfall? Because they insist on harboring illegal aliens. It will never end. they will be back in six months and want another trillion or so.
