Title: VP debate moderator Ifill releasing pro-Obama book
Post by: thundley4 on October 01, 2008, 07:07:20 AM
Shouldn't the moderator have some semblance of impartiality?  :banghead:
Quote
The moderator of Thursday's vice-presidential debate is writing a book to come out about the time the next president takes the oath of office that aims to "shed new light" on Democratic candidate Barack Obama and other "emerging young African American politicians" who are "forging a bold new path to political power."

Gwen Ifill of the Public Broadcasting Service program "Washington Week" is promoting "The Breakthrough," in which she argues the "black political structure" of the civil rights movement is giving way to men and women who have benefited from the struggles over racial equality.

Ifill declined to return a WND telephone message asking for a comment about her book project and whether its success would be expected should Obama lose. But she has faced criticism previously for not treating candidates of both major parties the same.

During a vice-presidential candidate debate she moderated in 2004 – when Democrat John Edwards attacked Republican Dick Cheney's former employer, Halliburton – the vice president said, "I can respond, Gwen, but it's going to take more than 30 seconds."

Heck no.   The moderator must be a partisan hack with an ax to grin and a financial interest in the outcome.  All in the name of fairness.

I don't know how 'Bold and new' his path has been, it appears to be the same old combination of racial politics, moneyed interests and influence peddling that almost every other minority politician has used, Obama just has the unreserved and over-the-top backing of the MSM on a national scale, which is their own doing, not his.

That said, at least Gwen Ifill is pretty matter of fact and (as network reporters go) fairly even-handed rather than being a vile BDS-afflicted snapping turtle like Katie Couric.  It's not like there's any secret about who a MSM moderator would really be backing, after all.

She's writing a book to be released in January and has a vested interest in getting Barack Hussein Obama elected so she would sell more copies and the McCain camp just found out about that? Maybe he should propose replacing Gwen with James Corsi and see how that goes over with the hyper-partisan MSM, like Associated (with the Committee to Elect Barack Hussein Obama) Press here:

Aww, poor dear.

The moderator here gets to pick any and all questions.

The corruption is beyond belief...it's a miracle the republicans have managed to retain the presidency these last 2 terms.  Our luck will eventually run out...or the more blatantly impartial they are..the more they lose.  Let's hope the latter wins out this year too.

it's not merely a matter of bias.  she now has a financial interest in seeing obama elected, since her book would be a zillion times more relevant if her title isn't false when the thing is published.

oh, and she did not tell the debate commission about the book beforehand . . .

Quote
The host of PBS'"Washington Week" and senior correspondent on "The NewsHour" said she did not tell the Commission on Presidential Debates about the book. The commission had no immediate comment when contacted by The Associated Press. A spokeswoman for John McCain's campaign did not immediately return phone and e-mail messages.

"I've got a pretty long track record covering politics and news, so I'm not particularly worried that one-day blog chatter is going to destroy my reputation," Ifill said. "The proof is in the pudding. They can watch the debate tomorrow night and make their own decisions about whether or not I've done my job."

Translated:  Ifill to America..."screw you!"
