California governor vetoes Harvey Milk bill

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has vetoed a bill that would have made the birthday of gay political icon Harvey Milk a statewide "day of significance."

... Conservative groups had lobbied Schwarzenegger not to sign the legislation, sponsored by Assemblyman Mark Leno of San Francisco.

Milk became the nation's first openly gay man to hold a prominent political office when he was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1977.

He and Mayor George Moscone were assassinated by a fellow supervisor in 1978.

8. Oh, go **** yourself, Arnold.

Perhaps he's jealous, because the Austrians nixed that statue devoted to him?

Someone should pry off his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

10. This man is a pig and I say we remind him of that fact every single day until he croaks or until Harvey is recognized.

The last comment, from a bottom-of-the-barrel primitive who wants to erect a Washington Monument-sized bust of a certain late red round one in Seattle.

If Harvey Milk had done something of significance like build the Golden Gate Bridge then I bet Arnold would be all for giving him a day. Being gay and getting shot isn't a good reason to give someone a day. It unfortuenatly happenes way to much that anyone gets shot.

If you got a monument for being gay in San Francisco, the place would look like an upscale 19th century cemetery.

Give me a six-shooter and I'll give them a statewide "week of significance" bill on which to be mad he didn't approve.
