the Defazio vote confused me.   He is a Dummie, but he voted no.  So this explains it.   Pelosi let the marginal guys vote no, because this is so unpopular.

this is confusing and hard to  wrap your head around, but it is the definition of what is wrong with Pelosi's leadership.

The short version seems to be the Republicans called Pelosi's bluff. The 'excuse' seems to be just that, an excuse to show the Republicans as bitter. Its not going to stick though because most common folks with no economic insight saw that vote as the wrong thing to do.

The smart thing is to make it into political points by referring to it as the wildly unpopular Bush-Pelosi plan. As for McCain - he needs to stick by his guns, state the the plan that the Democrats blame him for scuttling was far worse than the Bush-Pelosi plan, but sadly the Bush-Pelosi plan was also woefully inadequate.

BEG, good find. Politicians are sickening. I noticed Lacey Clay from StL and Jerry Costello from the Metro East (Illinois, across the river from STL) both voted no. I was amazed at this, but the clip from Rove explains it.

They obviously don't have McCain's slogan Country First as their mantra.

A No vote was the right vote even if it was a no vote for the wrong reason. Politics.

The Demo slogan is always "Me First, me last me always."

I am glad they outsmarted themselves.

Since Thursday, Obama has become a non player in this farce.  He blew it, and they aren't going to carry his water so readily anymore.
