Is "slut" really a good costume? I mean if you want to dress like a prostitute on Halloween it probably means you are a slut the rest of the year too. Do you think people notice the difference?
-
There are some pretty scary hos out there, it could be classed as a frightening costume.
-
When pre-teen girls dress that way, Halloween or not, they get called 'prosti-tots' around here. :fuelfire:
-
I notice that too...it's like suddenly on Halloween they have a license to expose their inner sluttiness to the general public. I think sluttiness is best reserved for more private ventures.

Parents who allow their daughters to dress like that have no morals either, IMO. :banghead:

I take it you haven't been to a mall or airport lately. You see early teens (and younger!) WITH THEIR MOMS dressed like complete whores.
Who do you think buys those clothes?
It tells girls they are just pieces of meat.
Where the hell were these moms when I was a teen, anyway? Oh, wait, they were destined to be the children of my classmates.

My child's kindergarten classmates dress sluttier than i do somedays! its frightening
I on the other hand am going as a large banana to the company halloween party..get it..top banana? :lmao:
I don't think they will get it either.... :(

There is a "banana split" joke in there, but I won't use it -- I have too much class.

Don't get me started on tats. I made a lot of mistakes when I was young -- none permanent.

I'm speaking as someone, whom while in high school had my apartment be one of the spots for the 'good' girls to change into their party clothes before heading out on the weekends or thursday night college bar parties. I knew lots of girls, who'd take a spare set of clothes to change into, as soon as they got to school.
I can see that with teens -- but I am talking prepubescents. And, like I said, nowadays, teens don't need to sneak out -- they just borrow their mom's ho clothes.

My wife works at a Halloween store with the "sexy outfits".. they don't allow anyone under 16 to try them on. But yeah, they are kind of slutty. And since someone wanted pics... here's a few.

I'm so confused...
I thought "dressing slutty" was liberating...
Now Sarah Palin looks good, but it isn't liberating...
I want to be a feminist, but what do they stand for exactly? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Forget Halloween, just going to a mall is astonishing to me. I remember when girls who had too much fat would never even think about wearing shirts so short that their belly rolls hung over the waistband of their jeans.

Point of order, though. You can make just about anything sexy or trampy looking with a few minor adjustments so dogging a girl's mothers closet is a bit over the top. Think of how an innocent pair of shorts with a different top can be made racier. Heck I can go into my closet and turn innocuous outfits I could wear out with the family into something suitable for the red light areas of Columbus with a few minor adjustments. Really, free, you'd be amazed at how creative young ladies can get with these things. The old adage is true that where there is a will, there is a way.
Another example: women have makeup--nearly every woman I know...make up is harmless and can be applied many different ways. Girls swipe their mother's make up all the time and likely put it on in ways that would make their mother's cringe. I actually used to do this. I'd put my make up on on the way to school or when I got there. I was hiding clothes too, but I was more of an 'alterna' chick :evillaugh: so I'd take the ripped fishnets in my bag and I'd keep the boots in my locker at school.

But they don't need to adjust anything -- their mom's clothes are pre-hoified.

But they don't need to adjust anything -- their mom's clothes are pre-hoified.
You can 'hoify' anything you want if you really want to or just pair up something fairly innocuous with something that isn't and voila(example: I had a girlfriend who had a wool houndstooth skirt that was just above the knee...she'd wear it with fishnets and a top that went off of her shoulder--had her mother worn it, it would have passed for business attire paired with the right stockings, shoes, and blazer.
Any teenage girl can raid a mother's stash of exercise gear(for women who wear more then sweats and tanks) and find a way to hoe it up. Also, this trend towards hip fitting jeans is a bad one. They simply do not fit a lot of women appropriately and I think with the stretch in denim, women are inclined to get a size too small since it will fit even though it is very tight. All that said, grown women can have clothing that is both classy and sexy anyway. A daughter raiding a closet of their grown mother is a discipline issue that should be addressed. There was evening wear and cocktail dresses in my mother's closet that was not appropriate for me, but it was for her in the right setting--I'd hardly call that a 'hoified' wardrobe.
All that said, I need little defense against yours since let's face it, out of the two of us, only one was a teenage girl once(I hope ). I am fully aware of just how creative(and sneaky) teenage girls can be and I am also well aware that many of those young ladies don't have mothers that are poor examples or are pushing them towards any of that.
PS My daughter is a tomboy mostly so I'm certainly not defending any issues here :-)

I tried something similar ONCE. My friend came over to get ready to go out. I knew my Mom didn't want me to wear this one shirt with out wearing a pair of jeans with it. It was long enough to wear as a "dress" or so I thought. My Mom had made dinner and my friend and I ate before we went out. I had on the shirt and a pair of jeans. Then I ran upstairs and took off the jeans and tried sneaking out of the house. I thought I looked HOT. My Mom came to the door just as I got out of it. She freaked out and made me come back inside. I didn't get to go out that night..... :uhsure:

You put on that French Maid's outfit, those stiletto heels, get back in that kitchen and rattle them pots and pans like a good girl before there's trouble! :-)

It could be, but it's the only time of year the girls can get "away with it". And YEAH, ppl notice those slutty little outfits, and if you're a YOUNG girl, you're just asking for trouble.
Try this one for size.

P.S. That stinking Halloween store I was working for, fired me over family emergencies problems, jerks!

So if I dress up as a beer keg or serial killer for Halloween does that mean I am one the rest of the year? :-)

Tell me about it! I see that all the time at the mall and other public places. It's like in the movie Idiocracy.

jt, darlin' you are missing my point.

Again, having been a teenage girl, I respectfully disagree. And I'm not missing your point--you are saying a teenage girl dresses trampy because her mother does. Again, I respectfully disagree as someone who has btdt and you have at least one other example on this board of a teenage girl pushing boundaries with clothing and I doubt--no I know her mother did not set a bad example for her, nor did mine despite the fact I acted out in dress too(think more alternative clothing though). Hell, I can think of a whole lot of hippies in the late 60's who rejected very ladylike examples in their own mothers :fuelfire:. Also, you leave out the critical role that fathers play in the self-esteem of a young woman besides.
Now, back on the topic at hand...
I happen to lean more the direction toast and shamrock were going on that topic. People dress up as lots of things for Halloween, doesn't make them spiderman, a beer keg, a nerd, or a sexed up snow white the rest of the year. Plus, it's a time of year to be over the top and silly. I know no matter how I looked in one of the outfits posted here, I'd be acting really silly in it because I goof on myself like that. Kinda like when we take this thing akin to Zumba class with lots of wiggling and shaking and me and my girlfriends die laughing during it. There isn't anything sexy about it--it's just...fun. A time to laugh at yourself in the indulgence that is a costume or a booty shaking dance class.
Of course, I'd never wear one of those outfits. I don't know...just don't have a desire to do so. I think I'm going to dress up 80's chick this year. God, I'm so old that how I dressed as a teenager everyday is now a costume. :bawl: :bawl:
eta: free I didn't address your point about what you see 'everywhere'. I will agree with you that a lot of parents are pushovers for their little 'prince and princesses' and allow sh*t they otherwise wouldn't. Usually, they justify the 'personal expression' by the fact that the child is good at this or that and behaves themselves otherwise. I tend to lean your way on this that it is inappropriate in its extreme presentations and that parents need to stop treating their children like leaders of the kingdom. That part is a just a fear to parent and wanting to be the buddy. I will give you that in the day, at least us girls used to sneak around. Many today don't have to and it's not that their mothers are tramps, but just way too permissive--dad too for that matter. Both sexes also seem to have an issue with living vicariously through their children.

Again, this is a my point about stretch, hip hugging jeans. Girls by a size too small convincing themselves they are that smaller size. I don't think this is a bout being sexy, it's about a girl convincing herself she's thin :thatsright:
