Well, this is all new to me.

That's the problem with life; one gets used to some place, and it abruptly changes, and so one goes out looking for new digs, and has to get used to its idiosyncrasies first, before getting comfortable.

After all, I'm not a primitive, nor Leroy from Finland, signing up and immediately shooting off my mouth.

It's like going to a garden party where one doesn't know anybody, and so one strolls around the lawns, the hedges, the umbrellas, the veranda, playing a little bit of croquet or polo or golf or bridge or poker or drinking tea, with everybody, until one is comfortable.

I'm here, and I'll be back--I'm sure there's some here who might not appreciate it--but first I plan to get comfortable, and then ease in.

Speaking as a refugee from FR and a person that no one really knows here I can relate.
No offense to anyone else but I always looked for your posts on the DUmmies before anyone elses and guessing that most everyone else may have too.

Nice to see you here.

Well, I plan to be back in action real soon; I'm dealing with a car problem today, and out here in the Sandhills, such things take more time, than in more-populated areas.

By the way, does anyone know if the primitives have discovered this site yet?

Remember, part of the fun is twitting the primitives, who get vexed because they can't respond from Skins's island.

I know, dear Frank. I did see your thread on car troubles, but being a primitive when it comes to car repairs, I did not respond. I do hope though that those troubles are behind you soon.

I don't believe the primitives are on to the forum yet. Are you suggesting a kamikaze run to the island of misfits to throw them the shiny new toy to distract them?  :-)

I know what you are saying about having to get used to a new format and all that. It does take some getting used to.

I'm really liking it, especially all the smilies and the shoutbox

Oh now, surely you knew I would show up.

Sooner or later.

I've always been the sort of person who shuts off the lights after everybody else is gone.....and thus being the last person to show up at a new place.

Really.  That's my real life, too.

There's always that one person who lingers, before moving on, who turns around to look at something that once was, but isn't any more.

I have been a franksolich fan since my early FR lurking days...Frank, do you still post over there? They are annoying the hell out of me so far in the primary season. If you don't worship at the Hunter/Thompson alter, they jump all over you.

Now, this is the price I pay for not having a workable home computer.  I take great advantage of my boss, posting on HIS time.

So, I MISSED Frank!!

Hopefully you'll be about today, on company time, so that I may see you.   :-)

I'm around, but working on an accounting project here in mid-afternoon.

I hope to get done by tonight, even though the deadline's Thursday.

Well, it could be worse, it could be at CU, where if you don't kiss Ron Paul's butt, they practically MAUL you. :whatever:

Of course I read freerepublic religiously, every day, but post only rarely.

freerepubic is an excellent site, but man, it's like going to the Library of Congress when all one needs is to look something up in an encyclopedia, or going to a Wal-Mart superstore when all one needs is a gallon of milk.

It's awesome, but man, it's just too big.

The same with P-J Comix's most-excellent DUmmie FUnnies on freerepublic; I used to hang out there all the time, commenting often, but then the DUmmie FUnnies got too big.

I'm a small "garden party" sort of person, and the DUmmie FUnnies got to where it was as if one were in the biggest ballroom of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, and it was packed to the rafters with people; people well-mannered, people having fun, and all that, but just s-o-o-o-o-o-o many people.

In case one didn't know this, there were some days during May and June of 2005, that the DUmmie FUnnies got more "hits," more traffic, than all of Skins's island all put together--and since the DUmmie FUnnies are just a minuscule part of freerepublic, that gives one an idea of how large freerepublic really is.

It took a while for anybody to notice I was here.
