WTF? Seriously, WTF?
No one will face prosecution in the death of an 80-year-old woman whose body was found in a freezer at her dead son’s Monkey Junction house last month.
“We’re unable to prosecute a defendant who has died during the pending investigation,†said Jon David, a New Hanover County assistant district attorney. “We couldn’t prosecute someone if we wanted to because their death precludes us from instituting an action against them.â€

Why the hell not? If death doesn't preclude them voting democratic, then it should not preclude prosecution.

I think the prosecution would have been for check fraud. He kept mom in the freezer, but he had access to her bank accounts and so he was spending her social security.

It's not like anything can be done about it now. I suppose it would be good to ensure nobody else gets prosecuted.

Yet another cold case which will never be solved.
