My husband and I went and saw it this afternoon. I thought it looked funny in the previews and it ended up being even more funny that I had hoped. I wont go into the plot but check out the link below. The preview isn't as funny as the movie, which is rare.

Looks funny

Meh. I'd rather see an entire movie of Gervais being an asshole. It's funnier that way.
Guess I'll wait until it comes out on DVD.

He does play asshole well. Go see it at the movie theater, if you don't think it is all that funny I'll pay for your ticket and popcorn. :p

Dirty Harry liked it

Look for a full and proper review in the coming days, but I strongly recommend you dash out to see Ghost Town before it disappears from theatres. Why in the world Dreamworks/Paramount dropped the best romantic comedy since I can’t remember into just a thousand theatres with scant promotion is a real crime.
This is a touching, funny, thoroughly original, understated gem with a script tailor-made for The Mighty Ricky Gervais.
And don’t get wrapped up in the ghost gimmick that’s been put out front in the trailers. Ghost Town is a grounded, human, beautiful little film I can’t wait to see again.
I thrust his opinion. I'll go see it on my next days off.

Rottentomatoes gave it a 87 Fresh (good) rating: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/1190970-ghost_town/ . But $5M is a pretty poor showing. I think Americans don't much care for Limey humour in the cinema. I think Gerbais is a Limey...

The Brits know comedy, they just don't go for the bathroom humor that so many of our movies do. So many TV shows are imported and then remade for the US and they flop because of rewrites.

I have seen a few BBC eps of "The Office" and a few of the USA version. Ours sucks, theirs is hilarious.
And I *love* the extra-dry humour on Dr. Who and Robin Hood. But I couldn't get past the gayosety of Torchwood.
And Graham Norton is an absolute hoot.
But Benny Hill and Monty Python certainly didn't back away from bathroom humor. But their sexual innuendos were (and are) more sly than outright. We Colonists lack subtlety sometimes.

Doctor Who , Robin Hood and Torchwood are three shows that I don't miss. But wait, you like Graham Norton, but think Torchwood has too much gayosety?

Norton is flaming, but he isn't sexual. Torchwood is all about the leading guy scoring with other men. I have never seen Norton give a soul kiss to a dude. It happens 3 or 4 times an episode on Gaywood. And my stomach couldn't take it any more.

I agree with that about Torchwood, and they sometimes overdo it. Now if they had Hawt lesbians doing that, it would be different. :evillaugh:
OTOH, I think they are trying to use his openness to show that he is from the future where sexual mores are more lax.

No, they are just being politically correct.
There is no way to say this, except to say it. Blacks represent <3% of the English population, yet on these shows they are 20%-30%
Mind you, it is OK and in fact laudable, but the disproportionate representation reminds us of the EUs Political Correctness.
And note they have almost no Indian/Pakistanis, who make up nearly 5% -- why might that be? Because when tallying victim status ethnicity, they are don't count.
