If you haven't seen this episode of Penn & Teller's Bullshit, it's worth it.
Penn and Teller debunk aspects of recycling, including the increased cost of certain forms of recycling, the detrimental effect that certain forms of recycling have on the environment, and debunk numerous myths regarding landfills.

Love the Bullsh!t. This (http://www.pennandteller.com/03/coolstuff/tellerspeaks/telleressayconspiracytheory.html) essay on the JFK assassination is pure gold.
Back on topic: What, you think paper grows on trees? :banghead:
My local recycling center doesn't handle glass any more. It turns out that glass is fine in a landfill (it's as stable as sand :p ), but it accounts for 80% of the injuries in the recycling process.
OTOH, recycle the heck out of plastic. And put a fat recycling tax on that impossible-to-open plastic packaging that everything comes in these days.
