So: How Do We Take To The Streets?
Bailouts of financial titans and economic sodomy upon the rest. War for amusement in Iraq. Fixed elections. Jaw-dropping cronyism. Torture. And a Democratic Party that vacillates between spinelessness and complicity.

Seems to me that the time is right for getting out there and raising Cain. Anybody know how to do this effectively?

The French and Italians know how to do this - how do they pull it off?

I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore. Someone point me in a direction.

Okay.

Step one: Shut off your computer.

Step Two: With a rocking motion free your buttocks from the pressure seal on your desk chair and stand up.

Step three: Go to your front door and open it and step outside. I know this may be scary but it's a neccesary evil.

Step three: Walk towards the street until you are standing in it.

Step four: Wait for a big fast moving truck and step in front of it shouting at the top of your lungs about economic sodomy.

Step five: Repeat if the vehicle swerves around you. Eventually in one form or another one WILL stop and you will make the papers and the local news.

 Do I need a permit?

Unemployment numbers are up, anyway. Get everyone who is out of work, or willing to take time off to grind it to a halt. We would need a few million willing to give up work and risk losing their jobs.

19. A sustained boycott is the only way to get their attention...
short of violence... and by a national boycott I mean work stoppages where possible but more importantly, stop consuming. Buy only what is necessary, nothing more. Stop using any form of banking or credit: use only cash or postal money orders. Stop driving except as absolutely necessary and combine stops in one trip such as driving only one day a week. Walk as much as you can... a dispersed mass of people milling about on the streets is more difficult to control or detain. They will be looking to take out the leaders and organizers so minimize exposure of those key members of our activist community. Don't buy anything except what is absolutely necessary. The key concept is minimalism... starve the corporate beasts.

Here, I suppose that one tactic would be to surround Washington and block streets.

 :rotf:

I heard some idiot yelling at a pharmacist about how he pays $14,000 a year for health insurance, and thanks to the George Bush administration his insurance company does not pay for one of his drugs. He turned around and told all us of waiting in line behind him this as well....I wanted to hang him by his suspenders and knock off his blu-blocker sun glasses! He was holding up the line!!! Then he got out one of those gay coin purses and counted out the exact change. He would not shut up....Stupid ****.

Of course the drug is excluded under all Part D plans (by law) due to the risk of using it by patients his age. They simply don't want to be sued! :rotf: But, let's blame the President!

I heard the pharmacist tell him the his cost for the medication was $11.99.   :banghead:

That Damn Bush made him pay out of pocket!  :lmao:

They have a lot of powerful tools to bring the corporate beast to its knees:

Not-One-Damn-Dime Day
DUAC! DUAC!
Angry, preferably obscene, letters to the editor
Angry, preferably obscene, posts on DU
Angry, preferably obscene, posts on Daily Kos
Hold up a sign on the corner down from Mom's house
Threaten to quit McD's (not really)
Maximize use of Papa John's dollar-off coupons, order plain cheese only

This thread is crawling with moles. In fact, the OP sounds like a mole.

BSS already pointed out this guy is a definite mole:

So the people who are out of work should take time off and grind it to a halt? Maybe it's me but I'm not sure how that would do anything.

You even notice that only the lefties think that demonstrations are a thing of the past and that all it does is make them look silly and stupid?

Conservatives are too busy working for a living (and paying TAXES) to screw around with this sort of childishness.

You bet.  They make it in .308, but the .338 will REALLY reach out and touch someone.

I've heard that.  Why am I not surprised that you have one?  :evillaugh: :evillaugh: :evillaugh:

You remember the olf AT&T commercials?  "Reach out, reach out and touch someone."  Twisted, but I'm like that.  Ought to be the marketing slogan for those.

Sometimes I get the idea that the DUmmies  won't "take to the streets" because they know, even if only on a subconscious level, that they are irrelevant.

Should they actually get out there, they might see just how small and pathetic their group really is, which might lead to a revision of their logic.

How can a group of people that are freeloading slackers, expect that them going on strike or imposing a boycott will have any effect whatsoever on the economy at large.

Sure the local 7/11 might have a downturn in dew and cheeto sales and the pigeons in the local park might get a new bombing range for the day but that's about all.

They have by their own admission next to no spending power, and should they actually have jobs and go on "strike", they'll realize that burger flippers and envelope stuffers can be replaced before morning tea.

This reminds me of the Bill Cosby routine where he tells about his football coach at Temple giving this really great pep talk before a game that got them all worked up.  The players were running around the locker room breaking benches, ripping the lockers off the wall, yelling "Kill!!" and "Fight!!"

Then the coach told them to go out and take the field, and they ran and the door was locked.

If things ever get so bad and messed up that conservatives have take to the streets, it won't be with silly signs in our hands. And it's often said, but always true, we have all the guns, and we don't kill our own progeny and thin our own numbers.
