Black people should mainly attend churches with just other black people so that they keep voting Democrat, according to a Rutgers University professor.

Professor Ryon Cobb argues “while 84% of Black adults identify as Democrat or lean Democratic, that number hides what congregational diversity costs Black politics.”

“Among Black nondenominational Protestants, that figure drops to nearly 60%, with one in three calling themselves independents,” Cobb wrote in an essay for the Brookings Institution.

Cobb, an “inclusive excellence in research” scholar considers it a “loss” when black people vote Republican.

He wrote:

Quote
Where Black Americans worship shapes their politics, and the data show the cost. The losses run in two directions: White congregations convert Black members to Republicanism, while multiracial congregations pull them out of partisan politics altogether. The mechanism is not diversity itself—it is who holds power inside those congregations.

Ummmmmm, blacks are intelligent people, and are not sheep. OTOH, there is no one trying to forcibly coerce blacks - or anyone else - to "Republicanism" ... nor for who or what to vote. It's not something Cobb is likely to recognize as such, but churches use their teaching occasions and opportunities for things much more important than partisan politics du jour. In the real world Lib/Prog politics has been increasing "invaded" moral matter that have been church teaching since approximately 30 AD.

That said, I can understand why Cobb would find it disturbing that blacks attending multi-ethnic churches see that whites don't hate them and don't want to "keep blacks down". Reality contradicts his narrative, and he's too arrogant and hate-filled to admit being wrong.

Maybe when they worship with white congregations, they see that white Republicans are not evil and insane, as Democrats would have them believe.

Hey, at least the guy admits that his real concern is people leaving the Democratic Party.
