The general attitude of Democrats who support Platner seems to be that he is permissable as a candidate because we are in desperate times (that's the same argument they always use to gloss over their candidates' flaws, but let's ignore that for a second).
The truth is, their party has always had shitty people in it. Platner's emergence just made it impossible to ignore.

Yes, Jennifer Welch, people are talking a Nazi tattoo because that's a big problem. Susan Collins hasn't done one thing to make women less safe. That's dumb. The Nazi tattoo is real. Welch's imaginations about Susan Collins reign of terror against American women is not a story at all.

Susan Collins is FAR from a MAGA-type Republican, and certainly nowhere near a Nazi.

I rest my case. It seems some in the Democratic Party not only want us to look the other way with regards to Platner's past, but to view such things as normal.
I would add, some of the things Platner is accused of far exceed toxic behavior, and truly abusive.
