Has any president ever stepped on his dick this hard before?

Jackson and Van Buren did the Trail of Tears. Buchanan let the Civil War happen. Harding's administration had the Teapot Dome Scandal. Hoover and the Smoot-Hawley Act caused the Depression. FDR interned Japanese-Americans. JFK committed troops to Viet Nam and oversaw the Bay of Pigs disaster. LBJ and Nixon escalated the Vietnam War. Nixon did Watergate. Ford pardoned Nixon. Reagan had the Iran-Contra scandal. Bush II caused the Iraq/Afghanistan debacle.

But as bad as these mistakes and intentional acts of ****ery were, none of those presidents started a war for no particular reason he could articulate, threatened to annihilate an entire civilization, and left his own country, not to mention the rest of the world, worse off than they were - except for the country he went to war with, which despite being damaged militarily, is now more powerful economically and politically than it ever was before.

You really have to try to be that galactically stupid, and nobody but Trump could pull it off.

In real life, Iran has been waging war on the US for 47 years. That alone wouyld suffice. However, Iran has been threatening to wipe out Israel and informed US negotiators that Iran had enough weapons-grade uranium for several nuclear weapons. Whether Israel would be the sole target or Iran would threaten other neighbors, that also sufficed.

Ending the Mullahcracy would end their "civilization". Trump did NOT threaten mass-killing of Iranians, nor did he say no different civilization would replace the Mullahcracy.

In the real world, the US and rest of the world are already better off with Iran's nuclear program destroyed or much set back in time, and Iran's Mullahcracy beheaded down to the armpits.

Iran's navy, plus or minus a few speed boats and rust buckets is permanently submerged. Iran's air force, which was heavily dependent on patched and kludged 1970s planes, is now scrap aluminum. Iran's military is experiencing an acute and growing shortage of generals and admirals. "Damaged" is like saying the Hindenburg was singed. As for Iran's economy, it's military and dual-use industries are getting flattened. The Mullahcracy has been beheaded at the armpits. Calling Iran "more powerful economically and politically than it ever was before" is a degree of delusion that can only come from Trump Hatred.

That was like shooting fish in a 5 gallon bucket with a Ma Deuce. :rotf:

It takes DU-Grade stupid to pretzellate Trump's remark while being OK with 47+ years of "Death to America".

We know LBJ liked to whip out Jumbo during meetings and Bill may not have stepped on his own, but was he into others stepping on it?  Maybe, that may have been why he stayed with Hillary.

Here is a more neutral summary analysis of Iran's current status, https://x.com/Osint613/status/2042572016230760934 :

Quote
The nuclear threat was pushed back. Not eliminated. Pushed back.

Iran’s ability to launch sustained mass ballistic missile barrages at Israel as an existential threat has been completely degraded.

The regime’s missile industry took a major hit. Mass production capability likely cut by at least ~80%.

Hezbollah has been severely weakened. ...

Gulf states may want to work closer with Israel, ...

Iranian economy was completely decimated before going into this, imagine where it is now, ...

It's been happening since well before the current Iran War, but Israel has pretty much decapitated, disemboweled, and flayed Iran's Hamas proxy group. Iran's sty of proxies has been reduced to the Houthis. The X post points out that Iran still controls the Strait of Hormuz (IMO, that, too, is much degraded), and the Mullahs' regime, while under newleadership, has not been replaced.

All of the above just shows Ocelot II either can not process information, or chooses not to. Either way, when he speaks, he shouldn't.

It's really amazing at how intensely they want to defend a authoritarian regime that would kill them and all of their "say my pronoun" friends in the blink of an eye. Personally, I try to avoid supporting folks who want to wipe me off the face of the earth, but I'm not a brainless lemming so...

I wish I could say that I was amazed by how many variations of 'we've been voted out of power because our ideas suck complete ass, so we have to say and do whatever we can to make all the other ideas and people who govern by them seem worse to try to make ourselves and our ideas seem acceptable', there are...but I can't.

Reality continues to be Reich-Wing:

Iran's Central Bank: The Economy Is Imploding, and Will Take Over a Decade to Recover

The Iranian economy was teetering before the war, and is on the verge of imploding. Even if the war stops now, the blockade is lifted, and trade resumes.

That is the unsurprising news that the central bank of Iran has delivered to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, whom I am certain already knew the broad strokes before getting the news. That's why he desperately wants to end the war, which every liberal in the West insists that Iran is winning.

The Iranian regime was already dealing with many crises before Operations Epic Fury and Roaring Lion began destroying billions of dollars of Iran's infrastructure. Its capital is almost out of water, its population is, shall we say, restless, and the IRGC was sucking down every available dollar to conduct its proxy wars against Israel, America, and the West.

Now, everywhere Pezeshkian looks, there is rubble, and the balance sheet from his oil revenues shows a figure approaching zero income and large outflows.

Quote
Iran’s central bank has warned President Masoud Pezeshkian that rebuilding the country’s war-damaged economy could take more than a decade, sources familiar with internal deliberations told Iran International.

In a stark assessment delivered to the president in recent days, senior economic officials said the damage inflicted during the 40-day war with the United States and Israel—combined with Iran’s already fragile economic situation—could take up to 12 years to repair.

Several major airports were damaged during the conflict, while strikes also targeted oil facilities, refineries and petrochemical installations that are central to Iran’s export revenues and industrial supply chains.
