9 dead, 25 injured in Tumbler Ridge, B.C. school shooting
Source: Global News
At least nine people were killed in a school shooting Tuesday afternoon in British Columbia’s Peace region, in which the suspected shooter also ended up dead.
RCMP said there were “multiple victims” from a shooting at the Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, where students attend Grades 7 through 12.
RCMP in Tumbler Ridge issued an emergency alert on Tuesday afternoon for an active shooter following reports of a shooting at a school.
When officers entered the school on Tuesday afternoon, they found six victims dead, RCMP confirmed. Two more victims were found at another location, while another victim died on the way to hospital.
An individual believed to be the shooter was also found dead with what appears to be a self‑inflicted injury.

This is going to be devastating to this small community.
Edited with update.
Ordinarily DU would be abuzz with threads and dripping with sarcasm over a shooting that leaves children dead. Hm. Wonder what's different this time? (https://www.democraticunderground.com/10143614512)

Trump and his ilk are letting gun runners illegally send guns to Canada and Mexico.
We really need to do something about the self-firing guns now that they can also travel by themselves across borders. It is incredible that a gun even EXISTS in Canada...

8. Odd twist, the dead suspect may have been a woman

Police described the suspect as a woman in a dress with brown hair.
No age or identity yet.
Only thing odd is the dick and nuts under the dress.

Apparently, it was a trans female named Jesse strang.
They will use this to up the pressure on trans elimination.
That's what they're worried about?
Here is what actually happened, for anyone interested: https://nypost.com/2026/02/11/world-news/transgender-canadian-school-shooter-who-slaughtered-8-including-mom-and-stepbrother-seen-in-first-photos/

So, the sequence seems to have been that he killed two at a/his residence, his mother and stepbrother. I had speculated earlier that they were his parents, so I was close (not exactly a brilliant deduction ::) ).
Then he went to the school he had attended - graduated? dropped out? He was 18YO - where he shot a bunch of students/staff, 7 of whom have died. Then he shot himself.
Speculating based on some similar shooters' motives, it looks like he hated his life, killed those he could of his family, and then went to the school to make a splash, spread his pain, and give himself some twisted sort of "significance".
While I think his being trans was a relevant part of his mentality, I'm more interested in the pain he brought on the families whose children and/or adults he killed and their friends. It's a small town, so probably every resident has some sort of loss.
Apparently, he had done hunting, so nobody smuggled a gun to him.
Did a DU-Faithful really sort of sideways-allude to the OhBummer! MalAdministration's Operation Fast and Furious?

I saw one once out in the wild. When I say "wild" I mean deep in the woods. It was matte black and scary looking so I'm positive that it was an assault rifle. I was going to try to catch it in a big net. Kind of like a butterfly net. But that thing was fast. I almost had it at one point, but then it started firing at me. Bam! Bam! Bam!. It fired as fast as it moved, but as a fictional spirit-guide, with the right motivation, I can move pretty quickly also. I evaded fairly well for awhile, but it finally got the drop on me. I knew that I was about to become a FORMER fictional spirit-guide. Thankfully, at the last minute, I got an idea. I began softly repeating over and over again: Orange Man Bad, Orange Man Bad, Orange Man Bad. It sat there for a minute or two aimed directly at me, but as I continue my soft chant, it finally moved away. I don't know where it went, but that was one scary, self firing, mobile assault rifle.
With the above out of the way (which, by the way, is as accurate as anything on DU), let me say TO HELL WITH YOU DU. People are dead. It's a tragedy. They were killed by a person. Are you so completely evil and devoid of compassion that you feel forced to make everything, even a tragedy, political and try to us it to score political points?

I wonder if he left a manifesto.

high 5 for not misgendering the shooter. Will be interesting to see the press twist themselves in pretzels over the gender thing

Wait, wait, wait: I thought Trump was an evil racist tyrant who wanted to completely shut the borders out of his evil racism? But, now, this DUmmy thinks he changed his mind and wants weaker borders in order to smuggle weapons into Canada and Mexico (Without anything even remotely close to evidence to back it up, of course)?

It was conscious but without intent to insult. That selfie of him with red lipstick, 5-O'clock shadow, and a smirk that has been in various news/commentary articles is rated :spork: :spork: :spork: :spork: :spork: :spork: :spork: :spork: :spork: :spork: and is sufficiently self-insulting.

Kyle Rittenhouse shot people.
A gun in Canada shot some people.
Fascinating, isn’t it?

The gun CROSSED STATE LINES, too. Remember how they wouldn't shut the **** up about that, like it matters? Like they care about any borders other than their b-hole when they're cramming items up there?

DUmmie apparently does not know that it is perfectly legal to own guns in Canada. There's lots of regulations on training, licensing, storage, mag capacity etc... but owning a gun there is quite feasible as long as you are willing to jump through all of the hoops and follow the laws.

And all they needed to do was refer to the charging document to dispel that claim, as it noted that the gun was kept in Kenosha all along.

Gun laws and the left are a mutually exclusive group. They neither try to or are willing to understand guns or the laws they pass to ban them.

From what I read, this guy used a bolt action rifle to do this. That is mind blowing.

In a way yes but remember that the Texas Tower shooter in the 1960's used a bold action rifle as part of his shooting spree as well. Not to mention that until the middle 70's or not soon after the Amry changed from a bolt action Sniper rifle to the XM-21 based on the M-14. A good shot with a bolt action rifle can cause a lot of mayhem.
