Dems Decide ICE Body Cams Are Bad
https://www.frontpagemag.com/dems-decide-ice-body-cams-are-bad/ (https://www.frontpagemag.com/dems-decide-ice-body-cams-are-bad/)
Dems have been calling for ICE body cameras, but as I noted a few days ago...
Body cameras have far more consistently proven that law enforcement acted correctly than otherwise. There’s a reason that Secretary Noem is happy to go along with the idea and why most police departments realized that body cams were a good thing once the impact became clear. In both the Renee Good and Alex Pretti cases, it was cameras and body cameras that provided the damning evidence that dismantled the ‘bloody shirt’ that the media was waving hysterically after the two radicals attacked law enforcement.
Now, the Dems are already pivoting to warning about the dangers of ICE body cameras…
A push to put body cameras on all ICE agents has Democrats running headlong into a new problem: fear that the technology will provide another avenue for mass surveillance of protesters. Congressional Democratic leaders have made universal use of body cameras one of their prime demands for imposing accountability on Immigration and Customs Enforcement, especially after federal agents fatally shot two American citizens in Minneapolis. But after an outcry from privacy advocates that surveillance tools will allow ICE agents to identify and track protesters, Democrats are also calling for restrictions on how the body cameras can be used.
What a difference a fortnight makes. How Dems could not realize the outcome of their 2015 demands for body would be likely again with ICE eludes me.

Small Business Administration Suspends 111,620 California Borrowers Suspected of $8.6 Billion Fraud

The Small Business Administration (SBA) suspended 111,620 California borrowers suspected of committing fraudulent activity related to pandemic-era loan grants, the agency said in a Feb. 6 statement.
The fraud involves the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program. PPP, established under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, provided funds to small businesses to cover up to eight weeks of employee payroll expenses, including benefits.
The COVID-19 EIDL loans provided funds to help small businesses recover from the pandemic’s negative impacts.
The fraudulent borrowers in California received 118,489 PPP and EIDL loans totaling more than $8.6 billion.
Kelly Loeffler, SBA administrator, said that this was the “most significant crackdown” on those who have defrauded pandemic programs.
“As we did in Minnesota, we are actively working with federal law enforcement to identify the criminals who defrauded American taxpayers, hold them to account, and recoup the stolen funds. As we continue our state-by-state work, our message is clear: pandemic-era fraudsters will not get a pass under this Administration,” Loeffler said.
Gooberment social program bureaucrats see their jobs as handing out $$$$$$ so as to get more next year, not so much verifying eligibility.

County Attorney Incensed That ICE Arrested Sex Offenders Outside Court

The claim that local politicians are not trying to protect the criminals is made crystal clear by the fact that they go crazy when federal agents arrest them at the courthouse. The Wisconsin judge who was found guilty of aiding a criminal alien trying to escape arrest had him in her courtroom because he assaulted his wife. She risked her career to ensure a man who had been arrested multiple times for abusing people could escape the fate of being deported.
Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty is incensed that two sex offenders who serially abused a minor were arrested at a county courthouse. There is no ambiguity here. Her concern was not for José and Maria, who are just trying to feed their baby in a manger. They are sex offenders who abused a minor
Two people were detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers at the Hennepin County Government Center on Thursday following their court appearance on felony charges, as reported by multiple media outlets.
The move drew ire from Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty as well as the Hennepin County Public Defender’s Office.
Daniel Alejandro Torrealba Mendez, 33, and Joseelin Josimar Castillo Sequera, 29, who both live in Plymouth, Minn., according to court documents, were charged last year with third-degree criminal sexual conduct, and aiding and abetting third-degree criminal sexual conduct, respectively, involving a minor who was age 14 at the time.
