I hope nancy pelosi gets all the press she wants in the time between now and the election. she could single handedly
hand congress back to us.
Pelosi: Dems bear no responsibility for economic crisis
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, when asked Tuesday whether Democrats bear some of the responsibility regarding the current crisis on Wall Street, had a one-word answer: “No.â€
Pelosi (D-Calif.) ripped President Bush’s “mismanagement†of the economy and a lack of regulation that led to the current situation.
“I think the American people have had it with this situation where the middle-income people in our country are not protected from the ramifications of the risk-taking and the greed of these financial institutions,†Pelosi told MSNBC.
When asked whether the Democrats “deserve some responsibility†regarding the economic crisis, Pelosi responded: “No.â€
“John McCain said that this is a result of overregulation by the Democrats in Congress,†she added. “Either he doesn’t know what he's talking about or he’s misrepresenting the facts as he knows them. But it’s simply not true.â€
Republicans responded quickly, pointing out that a Congress led by Democrats had not helped the economy.
“The Pelosi-Obama Congress has failed to pass an all-of-the-above energy plan, failed to stop earmarks, and failed to break the partisan gridlock that plagues Washington,†RNC spokesman Alex Conant said. “If Pelosi thinks the Democratic Congress is doing a good job handling the economy now, then just imagine how bad our economy would be if Democrats controlled the White House, too.â€

I suggested a month or so ago that I thought pelosi had truly lost it. she came out with a run of spectacularly stupid things that she said in the press, and then she disappeared for a while. perhaps her aids thought they had her under control with medication. they obviously need to increase the dosage.

hopefully, nancy pelosi will be on the floor of the house, having lost her speakership position because her incompetent and hysterical leadership of the house lost her party control of congress. or perhaps she will finally be locked away someplace in a padded room.
but it WOULD be sweet to watch her have to sit next to Vice President Palin.

Idiot. Here is reality as I see it - Im not a big economics guy, so this may be incomplete, or totally wrong. Take with at least a cupful of salt.
Believe it or not, some people really don't make enough money, or have good enough credit to buy a house.
Some people who can buy a house, may not have the money or credit to buy any house they want.
When lenders sell houses to anyone, the laws of supply and demand take over, causing cost to inflate beyond actual value.
When investment banks ASSUME ("ASS" out of "U" and "ME") that the value of a home/land will increase with the cost indefinitely, they make risky decisions based on unrealistic scenarios.
When the proverbial rug gets pulled out from under them, they discover they spent more money than their holdings are worth.

anyway -- where this all starts is Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- Darlings of the Democrats, In the Commonwealth they are especially loved by Barney Frank.

What's scary is many folks are. I felt bad that I got into an argument with my sis today. She was telling me that everything is Bush's fault. I almost lost it. He has tried too much to be politically correct. But I carefully explained the Dem's role in this. She said, "oooh, I didn't know". I told her to read something besides that lib rag, the STL Post-Dispatch and stop listening to NBC.
She's a college graduate, generally a bright person. But they're getting to her and many more. It put me in a really rotten mood today. I still have high hopes for this election, but it's sort of like rooting for the STL Cardinals this year. Sadly, they're terrible. I hope McCain and Palin do better.
