At the age of 69, I have reached a conclusion
Sunday night drove the nail home.
As long as there are greedy, evil people with way too much money, this country will never have a fair, equitable or just society.
Look how many times progress has been made, how much sacrifice of time, money and blood there has been, and look where we are once again.
The civil rights movement, women's rights, the social safety net, treating gay people with decency and respect, and on and on.
The way our system is set up ALLOWS THESE THINGS TO BE TAKEN AWAY, EVEN AFTER THEY ARE WON.
I see something fundamentally wrong here, and it will certainly not be fixed in my remaining time.
My heart takes comfort in my friends here, and everywhere who believe in a better world and continue to fight.

1. In the real world, Blacks and other ethnic minorities vote, get education, jobs, buy homes, etc. without hindrance.
2. In the real world, women vote, get education, jobs, buy homes, etc. without hindrance.
3. In the real world, a "safety net" is to help people through occasional difficult times, not to be a multi-generational life-long lifestyle.
4. In the real world, gays vote, get education, jobs, buy homes, etc. without hindrance.

I want to know what minority has been hung from a tree or had a cross burning on the lawn or been raped by a gang of racist or had any of the things that were done in the past on a regular basis and gotten away with it go on? I don't doubt that some idiot makes life for some a huge pain but unless the MSM is in the bag for those people it is not as common as it was over 35+ years ago.
