Title: Recommend I was laid off from my job 6 months ago and haven't found another one.

I was laid off from my job 6 months ago and haven't found another one.

That means my last unemployment check comes next week. As I am applying for jobs I see that some of them get 100 applicants within a few hours.

I don't know how high the unemployment rate is, but I'm sure TSF is covering it up. Under normal circumstances there would be an extension of unemployment benefits but that is not going to happen now. The administration has been cutting thousands of jobs since day one. AI is eliminating jobs. But is our government doing ANYTHING about it? **** no.

The bolded part of this DUmmies rant is very telling.. I doubt they even looked for a job until the last check..

I'd say you're 100% correct based on this one statement:

It's just now mentioning that?  It hasn't been bringing that up for 6 months?

In the real world, LIEden's Labor Department fudged monthly jobs statistics for at least 2023 and 2024

In the real world, unemployment benefits normally only lasted for 6 months. In the real world, extending the benefits longer than that was a temporary measure during the Covid shutdowns.

Not being a gooberment-loving Prog, I view trimming gooberment bloat as a good thing.

Government "did nothing" about automobiles eliminating buggy whip and horse-drawn wagon makers' jobs. Government "did nothing" about computers eliminating typewriter makers' and secretaries' jobs. Government "did nothing" about table-top payment terminals that reduced restaurant servers' jobs.  Government "did nothing" about self-checkout stations that reduced store clerks' jobs. "Talkie" movies eliminated theater organists ... I could go on.

The point is, it is not government's business to suppress technological progress.

Get rid of the 15 or 20 million illegal aliens and they’ll be plenty of jobs and the housing crisis will end too. :thatsright:

Why? The goobermint doesn't owe it to you to keep paying your lazy ass out of taxpayers money in perpetuity.

1. Being skilled at something really valuable will reduce your competition.

2. That there were 100 applicants does not mean all 100 applicants are qualified. People shotgun applications, often for jobs for which they are not qualified. The chances that more than 10 of those 100 applicants are qualified are fairly low.

3. IRL, is milestogo just using those 100 applicants as an excuse not to apply?

I have worked at a car wash and I have mowed lawns and I have worked maintenance for Cabela's and at a local mall, both as seasonal hires, part time. I have also worked retail for Best Buy selling computer software and at two other stores that sold computer games and accessories. I have also worked at the Warner Brothers Studio stores when they were a thing. all of that and doing my final 15 years in military service with the National Guard. I don't know where the Dummie lives but if you need money a job is always there you just have to be willing to work it. Some of the jobs I worked I didn't have a lot of experience, but I was willing to learn and do it unlike the majority of those at the Dump.

I have been in the workforce for 44 years. Out of those 44 years, I have worked an additional PT job to supplement income for 26 of those years. I don't know how I did it, but I have managed to avoid being unemployed this entire time. Yeah it sucks for this DUmmy to be dependent on government benefits to pay for his/her/it's weed and stuff but my guess his/her/it's online presence isn't helping with the employment search.
