NYPD Cops Plan to Vote With Their Feet If Mamdani Wins

Can't say as I blame New York's Finest for feeling this way. Clearly, the feeling is mutual. And almost as clearly, the moment of truth is all but inevitable.
The Free Press' Olivia Reingold reports that morale in the NYPD's rank and file has plunged since the ascent of Zohran Mamdani in the mayoral race. Those ranks already have begun to shrink, even before the vote to replace Eric Adams takes place. With the heir apparent bringing his "defund the police" mentality and a plan to eliminate OT, police officers tell Reingold that they can take a hint from Big Apple voters:
...
Reingold offers more anecdotal evidence of a potential Mamdani exodus, but the truth is that the exodus has been ongoing since the pandemic and the George Floyd riots. More than one officer pointed out that Bill de Blasio's "reforms" in that moment made their jobs a lot more difficult, with more intrusive reviews and a lack of support from city officials. Many officers opted out at that point, taking their NYPD experience with them to more supportive -- and less expensive -- environments.
NYPD officers don't want to work for a mayor who will put targets on their backs? Who'd athunk it?

Guess Who Just Admitted That Obamacare’s A Money Pit
https://pjmedia.com/matt-margolis/2025/10/08/guess-who-just-admitted-obamacares-a-money-pit-n4944611 (https://pjmedia.com/matt-margolis/2025/10/08/guess-who-just-admitted-obamacares-a-money-pit-n4944611)
Color me shocked. After more than a decade of breathless cheerleading for the so-called Affordable Care Act, the editorial elites at The Washington Post have finally admitted what conservatives have been saying all along: Obamacare was never affordable. As the Post’s own editorial board now concedes, the law “was never actually affordable.” This sudden burst of honesty comes amid the latest government shutdown showdown, which Democrats sparked in part by demanding yet another blank check to keep Biden’s lavish, COVID-era insurance subsidies alive.
The real problem is that the Affordable Care Act was never actually affordable. President Barack Obama’s signature achievement allowed people to buy insurance on marketplaces with subsidies based on their income. The architects of the program assumed that risk pools would be bigger than they turned out to be. As a result, policies cost more than expected.
I’d find this admission amusing if I hadn’t been paying ridiculous amounts of money for crappy health insurance ever since Obamacare was implemented.
But, it’s also not funny because just last year, the editorial board literally sang Obamacare’s praises. “Obamacare is working brilliantly,” they insisted.
And they credited the subsidies.
It took over a decade for the WashPost to admit what normal people knew a decade and more ago.

Katie Porter Faces Backlash After Threatening to Walk Out of TV Interview

Katie Porter, candidate for California governor, is facing backlash after footage surfaced of the Democrat threatening to leave an interview held weeks ago after growing frustrated by follow-up questions from a journalist.
Newsweek reached out to Porter's campaign via email Tuesday night for comment.
...
The newly released video interview emerges at a critical juncture in Porter's gubernatorial campaign, as she seeks to consolidate support in a highly competitive primary field.
...
In an interview with CBS News California Investigates correspondent Julie Watts, candidates for governor were asked about redistricting in the state and Proposition 50.
...
Porter was asked, "What do you say to the 40 percent of California voters, who you'll need in order to win, who voted for [President Donald] Trump?"
"How would I need them in order to win, ma'am?" Porter responded, then laughed. She continued, saying that in a general election race against a Republican, she believes that she would receive all non-Trump votes. "I have stood on my own two feet and won Republican votes before," Porter said.
Watts then responded, "But you just said you don't need those Trump voters." Porter, seemingly perturbed, put her hands up and said the interview was becoming "unnecessarily argumentative."
Watts said she asked every other candidate a similar line of questions or follow-ups about needing the 40 percent of voters who backed Trump.
"I don't want to keep doing this, I'm going to call it," Porter said, adding she won't do an interview with "seven follow-ups to every single question you ask." She also added that she has never had to "end an interview" before.
Porter is an unserious empty pantsuit.
