Rumor heard from an old friend. Take it for what it's worth...
Guys asking their CO's for letters absolving them of wrongdoing with regard to the military strikes on Venezuelan boats. Scuttlebutt, granted, but there appears to be rumblings in the ranks. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised. They're not trained for shit like that. When i served, I can't imagine EVER being ordered to do something like that. It's so beyond the pale.
A legionary solution to end this regime once and for all? Hard to believe, but given the level of criminality, I wouldn't necessarily be opposed. Seems we've fallen a long way. With 3 more years to go unless the bastard dies in office. Something's got to give.

Of course it did, right here, :stoner: .

One thing I've been shown in the past 6 months is just how much high-school level drama and gossip goes on in the lower ranks of the military. gossip and rumor are rampant. I believe it is mostly just among the newer guys as the more seasoned ones have learned to recognize and ignore it.
so IF this conversation even really happened, it's just another one of those rumor mill things that spread like wildfire, things that are generally BS from top to bottom.
edit:
And to add that someone thinks a letter from their CO would shield them of some offense under UCMJ is kinda funny in itself

Latrine rumors
Last week the big one was "we got steak and lobster for dinner. that means we're going to war".
There was also mention of how shi**y the steak was cooked and how rubbery the "lobster" was

When I served, if you were not trained for a specific mission, you were not selected for that mission until you were trained.
I'm curious which branch of the service this allegedly happened in...

Funny part is that event he Coast Guard has been shooting at those cartel asshats since the 80's.

They probably feel really guilty for killing innocent narcoterrorists. :lmao:

NO $HIT THERE I WAS! asking my CO for a letter absolving me of wrongdoing with regard to the military strikes on Venezuelan boats. :lmao:
-
What would be the purpose of such a letter? To be able to visit NYC without being arrested by Mamdani?
-
Who would ask for such a letter? For starters, lots of civilians have been killed in military operations. See: Barack Hussain Obama's drone warfare campaign. And if the strikes are illegal, a letter won't save you.
-
I believe this actually happened. I’ve been out of the service for 40 years and I emailed my old CO asking for a letter of absolution for that strike.
