* One of the Sacred Homeless
* Not legally present in the US
* Anti-Catholic
* Activist for policies/lifestyles contrary to Catholic teaching and practice
The murderer checks off the last two "boxes" at the least. "Sacred Homeless" is still a possibility. His parents signed off on his legal name change, ~5 years ago, but whether he still lived with them I have not read. Apparently he does not have a criminal record, so not a "Known Wolf".
According to what is "known" the murderer used a rifle to shoot from outside through the church window(s). Possibly related, possibly unrelated, yesterday there was a shooting at a Minneapolis high school, where the killer used a .223 rifle. I'm sure police are investigating whether today's murderer did that murder as well.

I size the size of my block of salt according to the topic of the report. If the news story is about an earthquake near Kamchatka, a fairly small grain; about "bad news for Trump", a Himalayan-sized block. With conservative outlets, sadly, I am very wary of hype, exaggeration, and my own confirmation bias.
