Title: Tuesday.
Post by: asdf2231 on September 16, 2008, 06:58:33 AM
The damn sun came up again.  :p

I have to haul my ailing carcass to a long term recovery meeting to "Represent" there with the state and county emergency folks while they tell everyone how they are doing 3 months post flooding.  Oh greater joy.  I hope I give everyone there the flu.

Kids stuff going on today but my wifeness is cutting her day short to deal with some of it. I will be pouring myself back into bed at some point today.

I am having a very Eeyoresque week here so far.

Eldest came home last night sporting a medal around her neck for her team having kicked some righteous ass in the volleyball tournament.  That was pretty cool.

Sorry you are still feeling crappy, asdf...hopefully you can kick it soon!

Dance and football tonight. Not sure what the daytime hours will hold...there is a possibility of lunch with a friend, but we'll see what pans out.

Sorry that you're still feeling sick, ASDF.

When I was driving home from work last night I saw how much damage was done in STL by the remnants of Ike blowing through. I drove down Manchester Road, where a small creek in one of the close in suburbs overflowed. The street was muddy, with water still in some of the parking lots and along the curbs. Some of the businesses had dumpsters outside, with most of the contents of the buildings a soggy mess. 2 people were killed here by the flash floods and one woman died out in her yard, taking her dog out for a quick walk. She was hit by a falling tree branch.

To help with stress in general, I'm starting a Tai Chi class tonight at a local school. SR is going with me. It should be fun.

Went to the eye doctor yesterday, my right eye is getting better (about 50% better) but now I have UVeitis in my left eye too.  I swear I am a mess.  I wonder sometimes if my husband would rather have a new healthier model.  I bet he is getting sick of me getting sick.

If I made any typo's please ignore, my vision right now sucks.

Dang, BEG, you just can't catch a break, can you!?  Hope you heal up soon!

I am beginning to feel that way.  I have to go back to the doctor on Wednesday and every other day (except the weekend) until it clears up.  What a friggen PITA.  I am so sick of this stupid UVeitis.  I am thankful that it hasn't gotten as bad as the first time I had it though.

Tuesday is worse than Monday this week?!  :o   Hope all y'all get better soon. :(

Well, just got back from class early.  Called the CR President a few minutes ago, as we are having a voter registration drive tomorrow and I'm needed to go pick up the Chick-Fil-A party platters in the morning.  The College Democrats didn't offer these kinds of treats to the voters they registered, so let's see what Chick-Fil-A can do for the College Republicans.  :evillaugh: :lmao:

Hey Eeyore....look at it this way ....when everyone else is getting the flu this winter...you will be healthy! I just know that made you feel better to learn that..... :uhsure:

BEG.....I know you will do exactly what you are supposed to do....but don't push yourself.

<<<<hugs to both of you>>>> in the meantime.

Still gloomy here again today....but that's ok....it's blessedly cooler!!! M dug out frozen homemade chili out of the freezer and I had a bowl for lunch....ahhhh...fall is coming! Now I want pumpkin pie and whipped cream. :-)

Well, I made it to class 5 minutes late this morning.  There are only 8 students in my 8am class, so it's quite obvious when you're late.  Yikes.  I felt bad, but there was really heavy traffic (not very normal) this morning for some reason.  I apologized to my teacher after class, so all is well.  He still loves me of course.  :)

I'm now at work, eating my lunch.  I have a ton to do this afternoon.  :(

Oh and I watched football last night.   :-)

I think I read on another conservative board that we are not suppose to have any empathy for those that are touched by water, as they should not live there in the first place. What were those people thinking?  :uhsure:

As for Tuesday, just like any other day, life is really great.

Oh and I watched football last night.   :-)

I seen the end of the game, having a Margarita with a young lady while playing video poker. I won $90 and the drinks were free.

I think my wife feels the same way. She's now 4 weeks into recovery from a hysterectomy. Eariler this year she had a lapro for a bone spur in her right shoulder.
No, I don't want a "new" model, but I want her to get better. I'm sure your hubby feels the same way.
For now I'm going fishing.  :-)

( I have to drop my daughter off for ballet class and theres a small lake nearby thats stocked with trout, whats a boy to do???)

They don't even have empathy for our troubles here, and we definitely don't live near water. Well, I guess you could count the Muddy Mississippi, but it's about 25 miles from here.

That Ike was pretty bad here. Going to complain now---the tree guy finally came after waiting 2 days for him. It's going to be between $800 to a thousand. And that's not even taking it all down. My fence has a small gate and they can't get their equipment in with the bucket that would raise them up so they can cut easier and quicker. He's going to have to get a "climber" in---a guy to climb up the tree. It's very high and very dangerous with some huge limbs about ready to split. I'm glad there aren't many trees left, just 1 Bradford pear, 1 pine and 1 silver maple (that's going to be drastically cut down). Oh, well, it's only money that's not going to be reimbursed by the insurance company. Drat.

SLW.....if they are using a "climber" make sure they are bonded and that THEIR insurance will cover him if he falls. Otherwise you could be responsible.

I love Bradford pears.....had one at my old house that I planted when I moved in in 1983.....loved that tree. It was hit by lightning several years ago. I got a tree guy out to save it. He told me that BP's are lightning magnets because where their large limbs connect to the trunk are pockets of water. We have a lot of them in this area and we get very bad cloud to ground lightning. Everytime we have a horrendous storm....you can drive around town and see ones that have been struck by lightning. I cried when I saw what happened to it (that was after I got the poop scared out of me when it was hit - it was right in front of my bedroom window  :o). It's still a beautiful tree!

The coast lines seem to get 24/7 media coverage. I know with Gustav they must of showed the same blowing palm tree for three days straight! Yet, when there are storms in the midwest, coverage seems to be minimal. Take Kearney, NE for example, 9 twisters in one night, and just a brief mention on the news.

It seems while others have lined up for FEMA money, and other assitance, on top of having insurance coverage for the same loss, often getting more then they were entitled to, there are also many like yourself having to pay out of pocket, even while having insurance coverage for such things.

It seems silly, but if you left the tree, until it fell on the house, creating a bigger loss, then it would be covered!  :banghead:

I agree, it sucks.

I love Bradford pears.....

The tree or the fruit?

What good is a pear tree that never bears edible fruit?  :rotf:

Let us know what you think of it, SLW! I take a class that incorporates Pilates/Tai Chi/Yoga...I use it to end my workout week before I take my day off and I LOVE it!

I'm with you, deb! I got out the fall decorations and added a few from the store. The front yard and porch are now decorated with scarecrows, hay bails, and assorted fall leafy things. 2 more weeks and I can drag the Halloween decorations out--woot! Already made some caramel apples with the kids last weekend and I think I'm going to start making some soups and chilis now that it is cooling down! Love this time of year.

Yep and that dwindling coverage doesn't help peeps get prepared in other areas. As I've said in other threads, many are still without power for 3 days in the Columbus area now and schools are still closed--this all from Ike. MSM are so transparent at this point in what they cover or don't whether it's politics or something else.

SLW, feel for you on the tree thing. We have someone we know taking a tree down in the next few months that we just want gone--it's going to be 300 bucks.

Do yourself a favor and get another bid on it.

I had trimmers charge me 300$ for cleaning up an entire TREELINE along our house and they couldn't get equipment in there either as it borders our house.

It seems like this service is Rogering you guys.

Met a friend for lunch and she was late because the tree cutters were there to cut down a huge Bradford Pear that she was afraid was going to fall on either her house or her neighbors. $925.00. They said they'd be done in about an hour and a half.

She was glad they were there...they are leaving for TX tomorrow or Friday.
