Trump's total failure in DC
Trump’s stunt – putting FBI agents and National Guard troops on DC streets – is a failure from the start. It’s a big nothingburger. It’s not the streets on fire that Trump hoped for.
If you want to see clear evidence of Trump’s failure, watch the press conferences with the DC mayor and police chief. They are not expressing outrage about the FBI and NG personnel. Instead, they are talking about cooperation while, at the same time, going on with normal police operations.
Trump wanted DC officials to freak out, to pound the podium. Trump wanted DC residents to take to the streets, throwing Molotov cocktails, burning buildings. NOTHING has happened or will happen because everyone in DC from the mayor and police chief down recognizes Trump’s move to be a stunt, a shadow-puppet theater, a big nothing . . . all staged by Trump in hopes of prompting riots.
Furthermore, we all know Trump pulled this stunt in an attempt to draw public attention away from (1) the declining economy, (2) his coming failure in negotiating with Putin about Obama, and (3) the Epstein affair, which will not go away and which just may eventually sink Trump.
My daughter is an attorney living on Capitol Hill. She reported the following today.
Yes, there are FBI agents clearly identifiable because they cruise around in black SUVs or black sedans, all with federal government license plates. They monitor the DC police radio and when they hear an arrest in progress, they run to the scene so they can get on camera “assisting” the DC police.
Smoking weed. Marijuana possession and use is legal in DC provided you possess a small amount, do not sell weed, and use it only for personal consumption. In residential neighborhoods – especially the older DC neighborhoods made up of row houses – it is common for people to sit on their front stoop in the evening, visiting with neighbors, and smoking weed. Over the past two days, FBI agents have freaked out and tried to arrest people for sitting on their front stoop smoking weed. The FBI agents were told to **** off, were informed about the DC law, and they left with their tails between their legs.
The churches. DC streets are crowded. In DC are several very large, well-attended churches, most of them Black churches although a couple of white churches have the same issue: Parking. So, on Sundays, at church time, parking is permitted on both sides of the streets around these large churches, and when church is out, no one interferes with those leaving church. Except this past Sunday, when at one big Black church, a couple of genius FBI agents blocked off the streets and tried to ticket drivers leaving the church and were eventually sent packing after church members explained the local customs and told – not asked – the FBI agents to get the hell out of the neighborhood.
Brown people. Reports are now circulating that the FBI agents are stopping cars with brown people driving or in the car. They demand ID, ask about immigration status, and generally harass people.
800 National Guardsmen. Everyone knows that, with 800 troops coming in, at any given time, there will NOT be 800 Guardsmen on the streets. To conduct 24-hour operations, they will have to work in shifts of about 200 while the other 600 are either off duty or are working on housekeeping chores. At least 25% of the 800 will never set foot on a DC street because their job is to support the other troops – cooks, medics, vehicle mechanics, personnel and finance clerks, and the like.
Face it, this deployment to DC is nothing but a stupid Trump stunt that he has dreamed of since his first term. The reaction by the DC leadership and residents is not what Trump expected and he doesn’t know what to do. But his halfwit, knuckle-dragging, drooling MAGAt supporters just love it.

On the first day of the crackdown, federal and local authorities made 23 arrests, including suspects wanted for murder, gun offenses and other crimes.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said some of those arrested had charges for homicide, weapons violations, lewd acts, and stalking. Six illegal firearms were also seized, she added.
"These are just a few examples — we are just getting started. Federal partners joined local police and arrested 23 in total," FBI Director Kash Patel wrote on X. "When you let good cops be cops they can clean up our streets and do it fast. More to come. Your nation’s Capital WILL be safe again."

But…If you’re visiting DC, please be situationally aware, like any urban area, serious trouble can happen quickly.
I know 2 people who have died there.

I'm not going to do the DDGing to see if Trump was literally correct with "in the world" or indulging in hyperbole, which he sometimes does. Howzabout how WashDC fits nationally?

The top five homicide rates among large population centers — those with more than a million residents — were the cities of:
1. Memphis, Tennessee (Shelby County)

5. Birmingham, Alabama (Jefferson County).
A bit farther down the article is a chart giving the murders per 100K population. WashDC's rate is 35.9 murders per 100K, very similar to St. Louis and Baltimore. There is a significant drop in the rate from WashDC to #5, Birmingham.
This is 2023 data, which may be as current as is available. The article is dated July 11, 2025. As for the claim it improved in 2024 and so far in 2025, DC police leaders have been fudging the data, so reality may be that 2024 and 2025 so far were worse than 2023. That DC police leaders have been fudging the data is a clear sign that this is likely.

Why do they feel the need to lie like this? If his daughter is actually an attorney she should have her license pulled until she actually learns the law.
Marijuana - Yes it's legal in DC. However, it can't be consumed in public. So smoking on the "front stoop" is illegal under DC law. And it's still illegal under federal law. So if an FBI agent tried to arrest someone for smoking MJ they wouldn't be leaving with their tail between their legs. They would be turning the person over to DC police to process or, if they decided, they would slap federal charges on just to make a person's life difficult. But that's all conjecture, because they aren't wandering the streets harassing people for nothing more than smoking weed.
Parking - Again, FBI agents aren't wandering around writing parking tickets. Not to mention, Trump put federal agents and National Guard on the streets of DC on Monday. Were they time-travelled back to Sunday to run around writing parking tickets?
As always, DUmmies lie. It's their default condition.

The District of Columbia has quietly settled a lawsuit from a sergeant who accused Metropolitan Police Department leaders of misclassifying offenses to deflate the district's crime statistics, court records obtained by the Washington Free Beacon show. Police brass repeatedly told officers to downgrade theft cases, knife attacks, and violent assaults to lesser offenses, according to internal MPD emails, depositions, and phone call transcripts the Free Beacon reviewed.
Former MPD sergeant Charlotte Djossou sued the department in 2020, alleging that police leadership punished her for speaking out against the scheme. Djossou, who joined the force after serving honorably in Iraq, accused MPD brass of attempting to "distort crime statistics" by "downgrading a number of felonies to misdemeanors, so that there will be 'fewer' felonies in the statistics." She also provided records showing that police leaders explicitly instructed their subordinates to underclassify certain instances of theft to keep them out of the crime stats the city reports to the public.
Fudging the stats is easier for misleaders than supporting the police in the face of the Defund the Police movement.
