An armed shooter attacked 345 Park Ave. in Manhattan, the tower housing Blackstone Inc.'s global headquarters and the National Football League among others, killing at least five people, according to a city official.
Shane Tamura went to Midtown Manhattan to kill 5 people where Blackstone and NFL are based in.

:shrug: The pix I've seen of him and his family name suggest his recent ancestry is mixed Japanese (Tamura) and black (the texture of his hair). He could be Purple Neptunian for all I care, but it sounds like DU-folk are trying to evade the possibility he has black ancestry.
Apparently, the guy is from Las Vegas, NV, so it looks like he was targeting someones or something in that building (I haven't visited news sites yet this AM).

“A gunman with a rifle walked into a Midtown Manhattan office building on Monday evening, around 6:30 p.m. Eastern, and shot multiple people, including two New York Police Department (NYPD) officers,” wrote my friend and colleague Sarah Anderson on Monday night. “One of the officers has died, as have at least four civilians. Local authorities say that the number could grow.”

A clip from CNN around 7:30 p.m. Eastern on Monday features John Miller, the network’s chief law enforcement and intelligence analyst, saying, “They know he is a male, possibly white. He's wearing sunglasses. He appears to have a mustache. And that picture has been distributed to every police officer in New York City.”
Every police officer in New York City, as well as every CNN viewer, could see from that picture that Miller’s assessment of “possibly white” is impossible. But CNN’s gonna CNN.

“New York City Mayor Eric Adams said Tuesday that a gunman who killed four people at a Manhattan office building was trying to target the headquarters of the NFL but took the wrong elevator,” ESPN reports. “Investigators believe Shane Tamura was trying to get to the NFL offices after shooting several people in the building's lobby but accidentally entered the wrong set of elevator banks, Adams said in interviews Tuesday.”
Tamura reportedly carried a three-page note in his pocket asking that doctors study his brain after he died because he believed he had sustained injuries from playing high school football.

As RedState reported, an active shooter situation unfolded in New York City on Monday in the early evening hours. A male suspect entered the building at 345 Park Avenue in Manhattan and opened fire, killing four people and injuring others. A New York City Police officer was reportedly shot in the back and had to be rushed to the hospital. The officer was identified as 36-year-old Didarul Islam, a four-year NYPD veteran. Islam succumbed to his wounds and died. He was married, and his wife is eight months pregnant with their third child. Islam also leaves behind two young boys.

Several hours after the tragedy unraveled, the shooter was finally identified. Commissioner Tisch supplied the full timeline of the event thus far, cautioning that the incident was still being actively investigated.

NYPD found Tamura on the 33rd floor of the building, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Palmetto State Armory AR-15 rifle he used to commit the murders was at his side. The New York Post reported, "Smears of blood were seen on the assault rifle Tamura used during his deadly rampage, according to a photo obtained by The Post."

Tisch also said that, according to the Las Vegas law enforcement officials, Tamura has a documented mental health history.
