1. Yes it makes them feel powerful to torture and kill people.
And some of them get a sexual kick out of it too.
Trump is a true sexual sadist.
Hurting people turns him on.

DUmmie raccoon discovered DU's threads celebrating the Texas flashflood? Celebrating the prospect - unrealized - of Trump voters losing their jobs or going hungry due to Trump economic policies? Celebrating coal miners losing their jobs due to OhBummer! shutting down the coal industry and usage?
Unlike DUmmies straw-man hate-fantasies about Rs and conservatives, those examples of DU-folk rejoicing at the suffering (real or imagined) of people they hate are very real.

If I wanted people to suffer, I would continue/implement Democrats' policies/proposals, such as leaving the border open, defunding the police, over-regulation, and leaving our natural resources unused.

While that is undoubtedly a position they hold, I do wonder if they weren't referring to deportations.
If that is the case, removing illegals so that the dems do not accrue house seats to which they were not really entitled, is an effort to remove dems ability to make everyone suffer.
