Went to a concert last night
at a local restaurant. A jazz quartet played while diners ate, talked, enjoyed themselves and were able to act as if nothing in our society has changed; life goes on as normal. I couldn’t enjoy myself. I’m thinking why aren’t the musicians taking this opportunity to speak out, at least for a few moments, about the fascist movement which has taken hold and is out to destroy the foundations upon which our free society exits; rule of law, free speech, and our civil rights. But not a peep from the leader of the band about our present predicament. Artists of all stripes should be speaking out at this dangerous moment in time. Everyone seemed so happy and in the moment, but not me. I left the restaurant somewhat depressed and discouraged. I’m seeing “good Germans” everywhere when I want to see “concerned Americans”. No wonder I have a difficult time socializing these days, it’s painful to see that for many, nothing has changed.

You really didn't want to go to a concert.  You wanted to go to a political rally, as long as it was for your side, and you didn't get that because they disguised the political rally as a 'concert'.  Those evil bastards TRICKED YOU!!!

I guess everyone else was glad the political rally turned into a concert because it sounds like they were enjoying themselves.

DUmmies are the most miserable people on the planet and it's because of their super high intellect.  No one else understands just how dire our situation is and they are unable to bring their communication level down low enough to talk to the average voters level to make them understand just how dire it is!!

Must be frustrating.  I'm glad I'm not intelligent.  Sounds like it sucks ... all the time.

Short version: I can't enjoy myself unless I'm hating someone else.

They really are sick people over at The Dump.

It's a 24/7 hate fest over there and they accuse everyone else of being hateful bigots, etc..

It truly does amaze me they can't look at their site and see the amount of hate they have.  Just browsing through thread titles is 90% hate, and if you open a thread you don't think is hateful, you'll find reponses that are hateful.  Turn anything into something political and nasty.

Reminds me of how old Bobo the Hobo could turn any conversation into a "everyone hates homeless people" thread.

4 Musicians playing a different song at the same time! :-) :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

Those people wouldn't be happy if they were gold plated.

To bad at least one of the musicians wasn't wearing a MAGA hat. :rotf: :rotf:

I've never been a big fan of jazz either. In college a gal who was a friend of mine was a waitress at a jazz bar who'd serve me free beer. It was painful to listen to all of that jazz but I was in college and the beer was free.

1. Consciously or naturally, these musicians knew the diners had come to hear music, not political sermonizing. Whatever the musicians' views, they did not self-Dixie-Chick.

2. Evidently, some/most/all of the diners and maybe a similar proportion of the musicians reject La Coliniere's :stoner:-vision of reality.

Nothing short circuits me like jazz. It is like listening to 5 different people speaking at the same time, all using incomplete sentences.

Imagine 5 different incoherent biden rants playing through your audio simultaneously.

That wasn't a "concert!"  That was a nice dinner out with pleasant music playing in the background.  People dressed up for this.  It was expensive.  It may have been someone's anniversary or birthday.  I literally LOL'd at your bolded piece in the OP.  Normal people don't want to hear these insane tirades when they're trying to enjoy themselves.

The poster claims to be concerned for free speech, but was offended that the musicians didn’t religiously inject politics (namely, the Democrats’ politics) into the event? Is there something wrong with this picture?

Nope. Pretty typical leftist scum hypocrisy, IMHO...

This is the perfect anti-bouncy.  There were no conversions, no cops jumped out of bushes and probably at some point during the evening there was actual applause.

A simple fact is that these dummies just don’t know how to enjoy themselves. They have to go around being mad about everything all the time they don’t know how to sit back and smell the roses. :thatsright: :mental: :loser:

This thread and the AARP thread demonstrate that DU-Grade Progs NEED people screaming their misery in concert with them.

Let's analyze this encounter:

Quote
Went to a concert last night at a local restaurant.

Tiny joint seating maybe 40-50 people at the most. With some local talentless musician who is paid a pittance. Not really a concert, but a private performance.

Quote
A jazz quartet played

Jeez, I wonder how much money they took home. Maybe $50 per person if that. And so pretentious, a "jazz" quartet. How many instruments did they play? I bet you don't even know.

In the real world, nothing in society has changed you ****ing ignoramus except we no longer have a brain-dead President. Sure, President DJT 45/47 ain't perfect in a lot of ways but his impact is only making our lives better. And no matter what he and his VERY capable team do, it is sure to piss off you leftists and the media (but I repeat myself).

Can't speak to the DU OP's venue, but Yoshi's in Oakland has, in the past, had nationally and internationally known jazz bands and musicians.

It's kind of revealing how clue-free the DU OP is that (s)he does not know that jazz artists play a lot of songs with fairly little yack.

They would’ve had a much better time. Had they gone to a protest with a bunch of fat guys with purple hair mustaches and beards, pretending to be women a bunch of old women with their pink hat on yelling and screeching and antifa setting things on fire.
That seems more like the kind of a venue they would enjoy a bunch of losers :thatsright: :loser: :loser: :mental: :bird: :bird:

The musicians didn't take the opportunity to speak out because they are musicians working for living to get by, and understand that not everyone thinks the same way about President Trump as you do.

F'ng moron

...

It's probably mostly doing what they love and are good at. But there are the cautionary examples out there of the Ditzy Tricks' fans' response to their reviling GWB and of Kathy the Griffin's fans' and venues' rejection of her fake-decapitation-of-DJT "humor". I think the Tricks and Mains are still playing county fairs and recording studios. Griffin was having to play outside of the US for several years (for lack of bookings), and I'm not sure she's getting major US venues even now (her Hate-Trump obsession probably hasn't helped, even during the LIEden years).

This is a great observation and highlights how they like to make things sound more grand, or refined, than they are.

She went to a bar that had some musicians and bar food.

That’s probably more accurate. Hell, they could have been playing country music but she didn’t want to put that.

I could see DU posters hearing pre-recorded music, and complaining that it didn't have pre-recorded anti-Trump messages.
