I've been wondering why so much of MAGA policy results in death (anti vax for example, anti cancer research too, deaths of desperation) and now we know. Oligarchs need fewer people.
Uh oh ... I wonder if anyone is calling out political wire for calling for the deaths of half of the white collar workers?!
After looking over all the replies, nope, none of them are bashing political wire for calling for executions. Wonder what has changed over there? I thought using the term "bloodbath" was a really bad thing.

I'm so old I remember Jimmy Treybig's 1980s predictions that Tandem's computers would bring on the "Paperless Factory". Reality is significant improvements, courtesy of computers, but well short of paperless. As for Treybig's Tandem Computers, in 10 years it went from being an almost 2-billion-dollar company to being gobbled up by Compaq, which got gobbled up by HP, which has since gone from an innovator to a large self-gutted personal computers me-too. The moral of the :bouncy:-story: Take start-up entrepreneurs' self-promoting hype with a large block of salt.

Throughout history, one new technological advancement was predicted to destroy existing technologies, and everyone would be unemployed. At the same time, the new technology gave rise to new careers no one was expecting. The Industrial Revolution was going to kill agricultural jobs. Automation was going to destroy manual labor. The rise of IT was going to wipe out accounting jobs.
I suspect the rise of AI will create a new job market no one sees coming.

Example: I remember when ATMs were going to destroy banking and lead to lots of unemployment. Never happened.
