Lost a guilty pleasure to Mother****er Krasnov's tariffs
Every once in a while, I'll pop into my local Fourbucks (Starbucks) for a break and order an unsweetened green tea lemonade and one of their double chocolate brownies. Well, no more, the brownies have been discontinued even though they are one of the most popular items on their scant menu; when I queried one of the baristas, she said she didn't know why.
Well, I think I have an answer, brownies require, demand, various chocolate products; there is no known source of cocoa (cacao) beans in the United States and they are primarily grown and harvested in Africa and South America, which are subject to these onerous tariffs. Fourbucks knows there's a price point beyond which customers won't pay for the treat and rather than risk a long-term contract and inventory that won't move decided to cut ties.
So, in the end, thanks, Mother****er, in both large and small ways you make life miserable, you ****ing oxygen thief.

That would imply that one cannot find any cacao product anywhere in the US, at any price. Which is interesting, since I think I sprained my ankle at Costco accidentally running into the display of 5 pound cocoa powder.
Oh well - anything that makes a lunatic angry and closer to death is A-OK with me, so long as they don't bother anyone else.

In the real world, the discontinuance IF REAL is probably due to lack of customer demand or the vendor of baked goods being discontinued.
In the real world, Mrs. SVPete and I were at a local BBQ restaurant last weekend, and they had plenty of brownies (not made in-house).
In the real world, tariffs, if imposed on cacao or cocoa, would not have been in force long enough to disrupt the availability of either, or to force up the prices of said commodities on hand in the US.

Starchucks was forced by the predictable behavior of the Sacred Homeless to end their everybody-can-use-our-restrooms feel-goodism, so they had to replace that stupidity with different stupidity.
Two walk-up-to-order restaurants I frequent - the BBQ place I mentioned above, Armadillo Willy's (see cool logo below), and Togos sandwich shop - both have brownies at their ordering stations, an obvious impulse item. I doubt that Starchucks discontinued brownies due to anything more than some sort of feel-goodism.

A normal person would think, "gee, maybe I can help myself by making my own brownies. I'll use real, high-quality ingredients and end up with a treat that might not be the best for me, but it'll be cheaper and will probably have fewer preservatives and other stuff I don't need." But Dummies are fa***ts and they would sooner die than adapt.

Not only do they have brownies but they also have chocolate chip cookies. Hint: if you get the ones at TOGOs, have them get ones from the refrigerator. So good!

I got curious and, strangely, See's Candies locations in Silicon Valley are still open, still with their pre-Trump hours. It's almost as if Trump tariffs have had minimal or zero impact on chocolate availability and price.

Probably his Starbucks had a trans barista he was sweet on, and they quit or got fired, and that's the real issue. Or he goes there for his morning deuce and they told him no.
