I just lost my federal government job.
I was a contractor and I work from home. I thought the project had 2 more months. Apparently they got some pressure to reduce the payroll so they told me this was my last day.
When you're at home they can't walk you out of the building.

Shocking a DUmmie have a government job. Instead of bitching at the DUmp go find another job.

That does not require a drug test.

My buffalo head nickel says that s/h/its "job" was answering surveys for the Census Bureau...

A DUmbas DUchebag with a job, even if it is a no show gubermint job, is, get this, lying.
The Venn Diagram of DUmmys and jobs is two non-intersecting circles.

I was a contractor ...
Normal working people realize that contractor is not a "permanent" full-time position. Companies commonly use contractors for projects needing temporary workers or to try out potential new hires.
I've been through 5 layoffs over my decades in Silicon Valley, so there are few DU-Denizens on whom I'd wish being laid off.

Can you share what department you were working in without doxing yourself? I'm curious what areas they are cutting now.

So not really under the executive branch, shouldn't be subject to DOGE. But I worked for them through an agency.
This and a couple other vague replies trips my BS meter.

A :hi5: to everyone in this thread because it was easy to discern the obvious bull-sh*t and you all noticed the inaccuracies and lies of omission spouted by the DUmmy.. A contractor is akin a to an Uber driver. A company brings you in to accomplish a job, not to fatten your wallet, not to mention your likely enormous rear. If you suck, there's the door.
The world needs ditch diggers too.

Being a contract worker for the government generally means not getting paid as much as a private sector contractor and not getting the retirement benefits of a government worker.

But is it really considered a "job" if all you do is hang around the house and collect a paycheck?

That (D)epends on who's in charge...

If true, at least they didn't have to walk it out of the building or clean up its desk and area.

More than a few companies cut off computer and network access before informing the one(s) laid off and have security people "walk" those laid off to their desks to clean out and then out to their car. Sadly companies cannot afford to assume a laid off person won't take revenge in the form of destroying facilities or sabotaging the computer system.

According the Gen Z folks and millennials, yes sir.
-
You didn't lose your job. You still work for the company that was contracted. The company lost the contract.

This is pretty standard. When they terminate someone in my company, they call me directly (so even other IT staff don't know ahead of time) and I have to disable all of their accounts and security cards at a specific time before the employee is notified of their termination.

I was pretty much describing the early 1990s layoffs at Amdahl Corp. (not a former employer, but the layoffs got coverage in the Murky Skews). Former employer Tandem Computers' 1993 "Himalay-Off" (nicknamed from the then-current "Himalaya" project) was similar, but handled less coldly.

Or God forbid they come back and shoot the place up in revenge for getting botted out of their job.
