medical debt relief for all low and middle income residents!!!!!
"I have some very exciting news to share:
Our bill to erase nearly $100 million in medical debt for low- and middle-income Vermonters unanimously passed in both chambers of the state legislature.
This new legislation will eliminate medical debt held by over 60,000 Vermonters — and it will even go one step further by removing the debt from their credit reports.
Eliminating this debt can potentially transform the lives of so many people.
No one should face financial strain because they need treatment for an injury or illness.
Vermonters aren’t at fault for accumulating medical debt. Medical debt is a byproduct of the major gaps in our healthcare system.
More than 1 in 10 Vermonters currently hold medical debt, and studies show that people are likely to delay or stop seeking care entirely because they’re worried about the debt they’ve already incurred. No one in the richest country in the world should avoid necessary medical care because of the failures of the healthcare system.
It’s just plain wrong, and this legislation marks a huge step forward in improving health outcomes for Vermonters and making our state more affordable.
I look forward to seeing this transformative legislation signed into law as soon as possible — and I’m grateful to everyone who helped get it across the finish line.
I won’t stop fighting for a healthier, safer, and more affordable Vermont for all of us.
Thank you,
Mike (Pieciak, Treasurer)

The answer is obvious... only those of us who prioritize our obligations and liabilities, just like always

I mean, it would only take four of these fundraisers to cover that amount......
3 presidents, celebrity performances and protester interruptions at Biden campaign's $26M fundraiser (https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/biden-rakes-25-million-new-york-fundraiser-obama-clinton-rcna145534)
Seems like the money to cover such debt is out there, it's just that the people with it have other interests than being kind and helpful. And tend to be Democrat.

The hospitals and the clinics will go away as soon as the debt does. Of course, since liberals have finally admitted that they will print infinity dollars and borrow infinity more to finance whatever they want, nothing means anything anymore, so it's even worse than trying to talk to a brick wall. It's like trying to talk to a brick wall with pink hair that demands to be called a stone wall, and wants to sodomize your children.

If that $100M (why does that number sound like a stagecraft symbol instead of something real?) gets paid, Vermont taxpayers get screwed, and if the State of Vermont plays games with healthcare providers, some of those will bail or go bankrupt, further screwing Vermonters.
If the debts are somehow wiped out so that healthcare providers get little or nothing, Vermont's healthcare system will be devastated. Doctors, nurses, and operators of healthcare facilities aren't going to stay in a state where services don't get paid for.

Which is why they'll call for a bailout, and some onionhead in Congress will find a way to make it happen. Healthcare is already mostly publicly financed in the US.

I was getting 502, Bad Gateway errors, so I didn't know my comment had posted and did multiple refreshes. I cleaned up my messes.
