Have the wheels come off the straight talk express? (http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/09/13/1393986.aspx) At least one sleeping giant woke up today: the NYT finally gives Sarah Palin a thorough vetting (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/14/us/politics/14palin.html?_r=1&hp=&adxnnl=1&oref=slogin&pagewanted=all&adxnnlx=1221411710-0M/ePUbBXOGEggrs43qLYQ) and the results aren't pretty. The McCain campaign's aggressive - and many say dishonest - tactics in promoting Palin may have sparked the beginnings of a media backlash. (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/11/AR2008091100793_pf.html) Camp McCain's reaction: We don't care and intend to stay on offense. (http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0908/13412.html) And about that offense, they will soon have some help: Group With Swift Boat Alumni Readies Ads Attacking Obama. (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/13/AR2008091302270.html) How low will things go? At this week's Values Voters Summit, 'Obama Waffles' with racial stereotypes were all the rage. (http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5hNafTsdlgbSZ8YMoFRDSgrVlEwGwD936205O0)

The NY Times "vetting" found out the same things that political bosses have done for decades.  Anyone remember all the Friends of Bill that followed him from Little Rock to DC?  And again with the SVBFT=liars theme.  Unbiased journalism, yes?
